The 2025 MLS season takes a break for the FIFA Club World Cup, which means it’s a perfect time to dive into the MLS Cup futures. By no surprise, Inter Miami remains the favorite to lift the trophy later this year despite sitting in sixth place in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, the Vancouver Whitecaps and Philadelphia Union are two other clubs to watch as well.

Inter Miami sits at +450 odds at soccer betting sites. The Whitecaps, who are surprisingly in first place in the West, come in at +700.
Inter Miami (+450)
It’s actually a bit of a surprise to see Inter Miami as a frontrunner considering where they sit in the Eastern Conference standings. The Herons have an 8-5-3 record so far, putting them in sixth spot. However, this is a club with the likes of Messi, Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets. Tha talent is there.
Miami suffered a shocking exit in the early stages of last year’s playoffs however, losing to Atlanta United following a phenomenal regular season. Javier Mascherano’s men will be looking to make up for that embarrassment later this year when the playoffs roll around. It’s still very early in the campaign, so they have time to work their way up the East table.
Vancouver Whitecaps (+700)
Vancouver has made the playoffs many times over the years, but they’ve never been a serious MLS Cup threat. That being said, 2025 may be a different story. The Whitecaps are one of the biggest surprises in Major League Soccer, leading the heavily competitive Western Conference with a 10-5-2 record. Brian White has led the way for Vancouver with 10 goals, while the Caps’ backline has been phenomenal, allowing only 14 goals in 17 matches. Vancouver is a very fundamentally sound side on both ends of the pitch and they also just competed in the Concacaf Champions League final, losing to Cruz Azul. The Whitecaps are a club to watch.
Philadelphia Union (+800)
Philly has been a regular in the MLS Playoffs over the last five years, but last season, they missed out on qualifying altogether. That being said, Philadelphia is back in business. Bradley Carnell has led this side to an Eastern Conference-best 11-4-3 record since taking over for long-time boss Jim Curtin. The Union are four points clear in first place. Frontman Tai Baribo is the top scorer in the MLS with 13 goals and he’ll continue to be key to their success as the campaign rolls on.
LAFC (+1000)
The 2022 MLS Cup winners are always one of the best clubs in the league, but they’re not off to the greatest start. LAFC is in fifth place with a 7-5-4 record. They drew three of their final five games before the Club World Cup, with only one win during that span. Denis Bouanga, who is always a threat in the final third, has eight goals so far in 15 games while also supplying four assists.
San Diego FC (+1000)
Talk about a dream start for Major League Soccer’s newest club. San Diego FC is in second place in the West with a 10-3-5 record, sitting only two points behind Vancouver. Anders Dreyer and Hirving Lozano have formed one of the best strike duos in the MLS, combining for 13 goals and 15 assists. These two have accounted for the majority of San Diego’s offensive output up top. This is a very impressive side with a lot of experience. Keep an eye on them in the MLS Playoffs.
MLS Cup Futures Picks
It’s still very early, but at this point, it’s worth putting money down on a few different clubs. San Diego is heavily impressing me, while Inter Miami cannot be counted out, despite their lackluster start. I also like the Whitecaps,
