There are always a handful of NFL teams looking for a new head coach come January. But not usually a full third of the league. An NFL record 10 teams hired a new head coach in 2026, and we all know how much Coach of the Year voters love a first-year head coach.

That means betting on the 2026 NFL Coach of the Year futures betting market should be even more fun than usual this season. It may only be March, but betting odds are out on nearly everything. So let’s dive into the odds and favorites for next year’s COTY, and we’ll also give you our favorite bet at the moment as well as a fun long range dart throw.

The Favorite: John Harbaugh, New York Giants (+550)

Of all the NFL awards that are already offering odds for the 2026 winner, Coach of the Year has one of the favorites with the shortest odds. John Harbaugh left the Baltimore Ravens after nearly two decades at the helm, and he’ll now lead the Giants on what they hope is a successful era of rebuilding. A Giants coach, Brian Daboll, actually won this award in his first year with the team back in 2022. But we don’t think that trend will hold. The NFC East is just too tough, and there’s too much for the Giants to figure out.

Our Best Bet: Kellen Moore, New Orleans Saints (+1,200)

It seemed like it might be one-and-done for Kellen Moore early in his rookie season as an NFL head coach last year with the Saints. However, a 5-3 finish in which rookie QB Tyler Shough showed he has the potential to be a quality starting QB means that Moore actually has a very positive outlook for 2026.

They’ve got consistency at both coordinator spots, Shough should improve after that encouraging final two months in 2025, their top 10 defense has no reason to falter, and the Saints have a schedule that includes six games against the NFC South as well as matchups with the Giants, Cardinals, and Raiders. If the Saints win the weak NFC South, even with an 8-9 record, he could be in with a shout here. Those +1,200 odds from betting sites don’t hurt either.

Dark Horse Candidate: Mike McCarthy, Pittsburgh Steelers (+1,400)

We’ve been saying this a lot about the Steelers, but we’re going to say it again: if they could just get that QB position figured out, they could pay out on some massive odds in 2026. Pittsburgh did very well during the frenzy, acquiring Michael Pittman for next-to-nothing in a trade and signing a lot of other key depth pieces. If Mike McCarthy’s Steelers win the AFC North again this season considering all of the change that has happened and the strength of that division, it would not be crazy to think McCarthy could win this award.
