The NFL is deep into its 2026-2027 league year now. Last week we saw 95 percent of the worthwhile free agents sign with new teams (or old ones), giving us a better idea of how each team is going to look next season. That also means futures odds for next year’s top NFL awards are coming out.
The odds for next year’s MVP have been out for some time, but now we can bet on the 2026 Offensive Player of the Year as well. We break down the latest mid-March post-free agency OPOY odds and favorites and give you our best bet and long shot from the field!
Highlights
- Jahmyr Gibbs is the preseason favorite; he was the 3rd-favorite prior to the 2024 season
- The last two OPOY winners had preseason odds of +2,200 or longer
- A QB has not won OPOY since 2018, when Patrick Mahomes won both MVP and OPOY

The Favorite: Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Detroit Lions (+750)
A top three preseason favorite for this award last year, Jahmyr Gibbs has felt like an easy choice the last couple of seasons. People believed the Lions would smarten up and start feeding the dynamic back the ball more. But no. More David Montgomery instead.
However, Monty is gone now, and though the Lions did pick up Isiah Pacheco, he is not expected to eat into Gibbs’ piece of the pie nearly as much. Which is why it makes sense that most sports betting sites have the Detroit tailback as the one to chase heading into this campaign.
Our Best Bet: Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Detroit Lions (+750)
David Montgomery was a veteran that was very well-liked by head coach Dan Campbell. Isiah Pacheco is just the new kid on the block. And we’re not sure he’s as good as Monty was in short-yardage situations anyway. So we really believe this year—the third year we’ve told ourselves this—will be the year that Gibbs breaks through as a bell cow.
Gibbs did still play 67 percent of snaps last year, ninth-most among RBs, but if that number spiked to 80 in the neighborhood of your Saquons, your CMCs, your Jonathan Taylors, and your Bijans, his stats could be bonkers. He still had 1,839 scrimmage yards and 18 TDs last year. If he tops 2,000 and 20 and the Lions are fighting for that top seed, Gibbs will have a great chance.
Dark Horse Candidate: Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills (+4,000)
Thankfully, this has become less of a QB award over the last few years. They already have MVP essentially to themselves, why do they need another award? Patrick Mahomes won both back in 2018, the last time a QB won OPOY. But we think that the seven-year drought could end here in 2026.
Josh Allen is a great shout to win his second MVP trophy in three years in 2026, but he’s also a great bet to win OPOY—and at much better value. While Allen’s MVP odds are +550 at the time of writing, his OPOY odds are a whopping +4,000. A dart throw on Allen with those odds is well worth the ticket considering how the Bills have built around him this offseason.
They promoted his guy Joe Brady to head coach. And they may have overpaid for D.J. Moore, but there’s no debating he will be a proper WR1 for Allen. And when Allen has a proper WR1, he throws for 4,000 and 35+ TDs. If he does that and keeps the scoring up on the ground (he’s averaging 13.7 rush TDs per year since 2023), he could be amazing value at this number.
