The quick turnaround for NFL teams playing a Sunday-Thursday schedule is tough enough. But the short week couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Baltimore Ravens, and to an extent even the Jaguars, who suffered a few major defensive injuries on Sunday.

But obviously, it’s the Ravens who are the ones in a real pickle here. Not only could Lamar Jackson be done for the year after suffering a thumb injury just one play into his return, but his backup Snoop Huntley is now dealing with a turf toe, which can be a nagging one. Even Joe Fagnano wasn’t sure to be ready. So they traded for Jacoby Brissett. How about that?

Anyway, here are our three favourite player props as well as the top NFL betting odds for this Week 9 Thursday Night Football matchup in Maryland!

Highlights

  • Zay Flowers will be a safety valve for whoever plays QB for the Ravens
  • Chris Rodriguez could start at RB for the Jaguars
  • Parker Washington will be looking for a bounce back game

NFL Week 9 Thursday Night Football: Jacksonville Jaguars @ Baltimore Ravens Player Prop Best Bets

All betting odds provided by Betway.

Zay Flowers, WR, Baltimore Ravens - Over 49.5 Receiving Yards (-110)

Zay Flowers was all set for a massive game against a porous Bills defence with Lamar Jackson returning. And then the injury. And then zero receptions on five targets. Whoopsie. But there’s no way the Ravens can allow their $140 million man out of the game plan for a second week straight. That just wouldn’t fly.

And Flowers has been very, very good this season. He’s had 80+ receiving in four games and had 5+ receptions in every contest before last week’s debacle. But we can hardly blame Flowers on that. He’s going to be healthy and ready to go.

And whether it’s Fagnano or Brissett, they’re going to need to look at Flowers as a safety valve to get out of jams. And if it’s Brissett that does start, we know he can sling it and that he likes to focus on one guy. Our money is on Flowers being that guy.

The Jaguars are also extremely susceptible to opposing wide receivers. Really their whole pass defence is poor, ranking fourth-worst in football, but they’re specifically bad against wideouts, allowing 195.7 yards per game, second-most in the NFL.

Chris Rodriguez, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars - Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-105)

Bhayshul Tuten is tough, but this is an even tougher spot. Apparently he played through a foot/ankle injury on Sunday and is now trying to do it again just four days later with no significant practice time in between. Even if he does suit up, there’s every chance he reinjures himself or is put on a pitch count.

Enter Chris Rodriguez. Unfortunately, the oddsmakers were ahead of us on this one, having already shifted his odds significantly in response to the Tuten issue. But even still, at -105, we like Rodriguez to score in this one.

Baltimore has allowed 10 rushing TDs this season, and with Tuten likely to be banged up, Rodriguez could be getting a massive snap share here. And that will include at the goal line, where hopefully he’s not vulture’d by their 6’6” QB.

Parker Washington, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars - Over 59.5 Receiving Yards (-140)

Zay Flowers was the only guy who had a worse day than Parker Washington last Sunday. The Jags’ leading receiver had just one catch on two targets for 16 yards. But he was really a victim of circumstance. Trevor Lawrence completed just 10 passes and no one had more than two receptions or three targets.

Apart from that anomaly, Washington has been pretty consistent, going for 60+ in four of his first six games of the season, including three with 80+. The Ravens have a poor pass defence and 177.6 receiving yards per game to wideouts, fifth-most in football. Washington is the man in Duval now, and Liam Coen won’t allow him to have back-to-back duds.
