Texas vs Missouri Odds

Texas enter as narrow 2.5-point road favorites at football betting sites, with a moneyline price of -154. Missouri offer a +114 return to win outright, while oddsmakers anticipate a relatively low-scoring affair with the total set at just 43.5 points.

These SEC rivals haven't met since the 2017 Texas Bowl, when the Longhorns secured a 33-16 victory. Missouri won the previous two meetings in 2011 and 2012.

Texas vs Missouri Analysis

Texas have bounced back nicely from their early-season struggles, winning three straight games to remain in the College Football Playoff conversation. Steve Sarkisian's squad has been particularly impressive defensively, allowing just 17.1 points and 273.1 total yards per contest. The Longhorns are also surrendering only 170.8 passing yards per game, making them one of the nation's toughest teams to throw against.

Their defense dominated Mississippi State last Saturday, limiting the Bulldogs to just three points in a comfortable 31-3 victory. Quarterback Arch Manning also delivered one of his best performances of the season, completing 16 of 20 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns. However, Texas have struggled to establish the run, averaging only 134.3 rushing yards per game. That could be an issue against Missouri's solid defensive front.

Missouri has also enjoyed a strong campaign under Eli Drinkwitz, winning six of eight games while remaining in the SEC title picture. The Tigers have been more productive offensively than Texas, averaging 425.3 total yards and 31.5 points per contest. Quarterback Austin Simmons has thrown for 1,952 yards, 16 touchdowns, and just two interceptions, while running back Jamal Roberts has already surpassed 1,000 rushing yards.

The Tigers are coming off an impressive 34-10 road victory over Arkansas, with Simmons throwing two touchdowns and the defense delivering another strong performance. Missouri is allowing only 18.4 points per game and has been particularly effective against the run, surrendering just 98.4 rushing yards per contest. With the Longhorns struggling to move the football consistently on the ground, the hosts could make this a difficult afternoon for Sarkisian's offense.

Texas vs Missouri Picks

The Tigers have the stronger rushing attack, a reliable quarterback in Austin Simmons, and home-field advantage. Texas are deserved favorites based on their defense, but their offensive-line injuries and inconsistent ground game make laying points on the road less appealing. I’ll take Missouri.
