Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Houston Texans
Buccaneers @ Texans Best Bets & Player Props
These two teams couldn’t have played more different games in Week 1. The Buccaneers won a divisional thriller with a late TD, while the Texans lost a snoozer to an interconference opponent in the Rams. Houston will continue its tour of NFC teams on Monday night, and we’re not sure it’s going to go any better for the AFC South favorites than it did last week.
They struggled to cover L.A.’s receivers last week, and that does not bode well for them against Tampa Bay, who have one of the best receiver rooms in football. And it’s not even healthy yet. Mike Evans is still the top dog in the clubhouse, but rookie Emeka Egbuka seems like he’s already ready to step into the big job.
He had six targets and four receptions for 67 yards and a pair of scores last week, and with Derek Stingley Jr. likely matchup with Evans, he should have another big day. His number is already pretty low, but we’ll take him to record 50+ receiving yards at the decent -140 odds we’re getting from betting sites.
For the spread, we’re going to roll with the Buccaneers, who have been excellent as underdogs during this Baker Mayfield era over the last couple of years. They are 14-7 ATS as underdogs, and that number gets even better when they are road dogs, at 10-3 ATS. Mayfield and company will put up enough points to at least keep this one close, if not win it outright.
Best Bets:
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers Alternative +3.5 Point Spread (-156)
- Emeka Egbuka To Record 50+ Receiving Yards (-140)
Los Angeles Chargers @ Las Vegas Raiders
Chargers @ Raiders Bets & Player Props
This one is an exciting matchup because both teams won in Week 1, and this will be a great way to determine how close both of them really are to toppling the Kansas City Chiefs dynasty. The Chargers already beat K.C. in Week 1 in Brazil, while the Raiders beat a disappointing Patriots team on the road.
This one could really go either way, but again, we’re leaning towards the dogs. The Chargers have not been great on the road against the Raiders since they moved to Vegas, losing three of the last four.
With Geno Smith confidently dealing from the pocket, this Raiders offense looks as capable as it has in a few years, and they didn’t even get much from the running game. The Chiefs didn’t try to run a lot on the Chargers for some reason, but their RBs did combine for 10 carries for 41 yards.
Ashton Jeanty was completely stifled in Week 1, but we think the team will make it a point to get him into better situations. He had 19 carries last week, and we’re betting he’ll get even more this week. But this time, he’ll be picking up more than two yards a carry. We’ll take him to hit the 60-yard plateau in his home debut.
Without any running game, the Raiders were still able to sling it around the field for over 360 yards in Foxborough. So if they can get Jeanty going, that would open up even more. We like Vegas to win here, but we’re being offered points, so we’ll take them.
Best Bets:
- Ashton Jeanty To Record 60+ Rush Yards (-145)
- Las Vegas Raiders +3.5 Point Spread (-110)
