The NFL didn’t give us much in the late afternoon window last week with just three games. But this time in Week 7, we get a nice quartet of 4PM West Coast games. There’s nothing like a nice, well-spread schedule of NFL football on a Sunday. Having said that, a little late afternoon betting action would make it even nicer, so let’s dive into our late-afternoon best bets!

Note: None of our best bets feature odds shorter than -200.

Highlights

  • Jonathan Taylor has scored in 8 of his last 11 games going back to last season
  • The Giants allow 178.3 receiving yards per game to WRs, 2nd-most in the NFL
  • 8 of the last 10 Cowboys-Commanders games have gone above 52+ points

Indianapolis Colts @ Los Angeles Chargers - 4:05PM

TeamMoneylinePoint SpreadTotal (Over/Under)
Indianapolis Colts+112+1.5 (-110)O48.5 (-110)
Los Angeles Chargers-132-1.5 (-110)U48.5 (-110)

Jonathan Taylor has scored in four of six games this year, and you can make that eight of 11 if you go back to his dominant finish to last season. He gets the Chargers in Week 7, and they’ve allowed seven rushing TDs, tied for seventh-most this year. They’ve also allowed a TD to an opposing RB in three of their last four games.

The league leader in rushing TDs, Taylor, who has seven, should be able to find his way to pay dirt in this one. To boot, ESPN Research tells us that Taylor leads the league in TDs outside the tackles (four) and the Chargers lead the league in rushing TDs allowed outside the tackles (five) as well.

Best Bet: Jonathan Taylor Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-180)

New York Giants @ Denver Broncos - 4:05PM

TeamMoneylinePoint SpreadTotal (Over/Under)
New York Giants+290+7.0 (-110)O40.5 (-110)
Denver Broncos-360-7.0 (-110)U40.5 (-110)

The Giants looked good and got extra rest last week. The Broncos looked suspect and had to fly back from Europe. So we’re not going for the spread here. Instead, we look at the matchup between Denver’s receiving corps and the seventh-worst pass defense in the league of the Giants.

Second-year Broncos WR Troy Franklin was quiet along with every other Bronco last week, but in four of the five before that, he went for 35+ yards through the air. Only one other team allows more yards per game to wideouts than the Giants, so we like Franklin to have some fun on Sunday.

Best Bet: Troy Franklin Over 32.5 Receiving Yards (-110)

Washington Commanders @ Dallas Cowboys - 4:25PM

TeamMoneylinePoint SpreadTotal (Over/Under)
Washington Commanders-104+1.5 (-110)O54.5 (-110)
Dallas Cowboys-112-1.5 (-110)U54.5 (-110)

If we’ve learned anything so far this year it’s that the Cowboys cannot play any defense. They are allowing the third-most points per game (29.7) and the most yards per game (387.5). They’re also allowing the second-most passing yards per game (270.3) and the sixth-highest yards per rush (4.9). They can’t stop anything. And Canadian sportsbooks are clearly catching on with this 54.5 total.

But the Dallas offense can’t be stopped either. Dallas has given up 25+ in four of six games, but they’ve also scored 30+ in four of six. Washington’s defense is also bottom seven in scoring, and this fixture has been a high-scoring in Dallas, with eight of the last 10 meetings hitting 52 points or more. They’ll go for even more on Sunday.

Best Bet: Alternative Game Total Points Over 53.5 (-125)

Green Bay Packers @ Arizona Cardinals - 4:25PM

TeamMoneylinePoint SpreadTotal (Over/Under)
Green Bay Packers-360-6.5 (-110)O44.5 (-110)
Arizona Cardinals+290+6.5 (-110)U44.5 (-110)

This one is tough to call. We don’t quite know who the Cardinals QB is going to be. With that in mind, we’re going to flout our own rules a little bit. With so little to go on, we’re going to revert to the basics here, though that means surpassing our -200 odds threshold. And we’re ever so sorry for it.

But Josh Jacobs has scored in four of five games this season and 13 of 14 going back to last year. We’ll play it safe with this one in limbo.

Best Bet: Josh Jacobs Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-220)
