Senators vs Red Wings Odds

Despite sitting nine points below their opponents, the Sens are a -145 home favorite at NHL betting sites. The Red Wings return at +114 odds. The O/U is set at six goals, with the Over cashing in three straight meetings.

Detroit has won two of the previous three meetings with Ottawa, but two of those matchups were decided by just one goal.

Senators vs Red Wings Analysis

The Sens are always going to have it tough in an uber-competitive Atlantic Division, but they’re not exactly thriving in 2025-26. Ottawa is sitting in third-last with just 63 points, compiling a 28-22-7 record. However, just nine points separate them and Detroit in third. Not all is lost quite yet, with lots of time left in the regular season. The Senators have been playing decent hockey as of late as well, going 6-3-1 across their last 10 games.

Ottawa won its final game before the Olympic break, beating the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime by a score of 2-1 on February 5. Finding the back of the net hasn’t been an issue – the Sens rank 12th in the NHL in goals scored with 3.3 per game. Their inability to keep opponents out of their net is the problem. Ottawa is 24th in goals conceded. Linus Ullmark has been underwhelming in between the sticks. The Senators are 14-10-4 at home this season, winning three straight at the Canadian Tire Centre against three solid teams in the Golden Knights, Avalanche, and Devils.

They may not be a Stanley Cup favorite at this point, but the Red Wings are knocking on the door of a contender. While Detroit hasn’t made the playoffs since 2016, the organization looks primed to end that drought this season. The Wings are in third in the Atlantic with a 33-19-6 record, and even if they did slip up towards the end of the campaign, it’s still likely Detroit makes the postseason as a Wild Card team.

Todd McClellan’s squad is led by the trio of Lucas Raymond, Alex DeBrincat, and Dylan Larkin. Together, they’ve combined for 168 points, and each player has posted at least 50 points apiece so far. While the Red Wings are just 20th in goals scored, their dominant netminding has made up for it. John Gibson has made 37 starts to go along with a 2.54 GAA, while Cam Talbot has also been respectable in 24 appearances, posting a 2.79 GAA. Detroit did lose four of their last five games before the break though, so they will be looking at Thursday evening as an opportunity to get back on track.

Senators vs Red Wings Picks

There always seems to be lots of offense when these two clubs meet. I’ll ride the trends and predict another high-scoring affair, with the Red Wings also coming out on top.
