Wild vs Canadiens Odds

The Wild head into this matchup as a -157 home moneyline favorite at NHL betting sites. The Habs return at +122. The total is set at 6.5 goals, and the Under has cashed in two of the last three meetings.

Montreal won the only matchup this season against Minnesota in January, 4-3.

Wild vs Canadiens Analysis

Minnesota hasn’t made a deep playoff run in quite some time, but they’re looking like a dangerous team right now. The addition of Quinn Hughes via trade with the Vancouver Canucks has been huge for the Wild, who are sitting in second place in the Central Division with a 32-14-10 record. Minny is seven points back of the Colorado Avalanche, the current Stanley Cup futures favorite.

The Wild are riding a three-game winning streak ahead of Monday’s matchup with the Habs, beating the Chicago Blackhawks, Calgary Flames, and the Oilers over the weekend. They’ve outscored their last two opponents 11-4, and putting seven past Edmonton is definitely an impressive feat. Hughes led the way with a goal and an assist, extending his point streak to eight games and also setting a franchise record for a defenceman. Seven different players found the back of the net, highlighting the phenomenal depth this Minnesota team has.

The Canadiens broke their playoff drought last season and while they didn’t go far, the future remains tremendously bright for this organization. With so many talented young pieces, Montreal is already showing the makings of a contender. In the always competitive Atlantic Division, the Habs are in third spot with a 31-17-7 record, and only three points behind the first place Tampa Bay Lightning. The playoff are a serious reality.

Montreal has compiled a 6-3-1 record across their last 10 contests, and during this unbeaten run, they even defeated the Avs, who have looked unstoppable. The Canadiens rolled them 7-3 last Thursday at the Bell Centre before beating the Sabres on the weekend. Cole Caufield continued to stay hot, scoring twice. He leads the team with 32 goals, while captain Nick Suzuki leads the Habs in points, posting 64.

Wild vs Canadiens Picks

The Wild play very well at home, but Montreal is also elite on the road. Instead of picking a winner, I’m eyeing the Over in goals, considering how much both of these clubs are scoring the puck at the moment.
