Game Pick
The Seattle Seahawks won Super Bowl LX because they were able to run the ball successfully and rush the passer with nearly no issue. It won’t be as easy here in Week 1 at Lumen Field in Seattle, but we think the defending champs can do both of those things against a marginally improved New England Patriots team.
There are many who are high on the Patriots, but apart from A.J. Brown, we don’t see a lot of improvements. They also have the Christian Gonzalez contract extension looming over them.
Meanwhile, Seattle brings back nearly their entire core bar running back and Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker. The defence is just as ferocious. They will still have the upper hand against New England’s mediocre offensive line. And Drake Maye will struggle to throw against pressure again.
The NFL hasn’t seen many repeat champions in recent years. But what they have seen are champions that get off the schneid right away. 16 of the 21 teams that have played the NFL Kickoff Game as the defending champions have won in Week 1. And we don’t think Seattle is going to go against the trend.
Best Bet: Seattle Seahawks Moneyline (-180)

Jaxon Smith-Njigba had a season for the ages in 2025. He led the league with 1,793 receiving yards, and also secured 119 receptions and 10 TDs. He also won the Offensive Player of the Year award and had 10 receptions for 153 yards and a score in Seattle’s win in last year’s NFC Championship thriller.
However, in the Super Bowl, the Patriots shut JSN down. He had just four receptions for 27 yards, both season-lows apart from their 41-6 Divisional round win over the 49ers.
That means that despite coming into this campaign as the reigning OPOY, JSN kind of has something to prove. Not just across the season and the playoffs, but against the Patriots specifically. They kept him locked down on the biggest stage in American sports.
He surely has not forgotten that. Elite players remember those types of frustrating nights. The Seahawks will be extremely aware too. And we think they’ll want to, at the very least, get JSN a touchdown in his rematch with the Pats.
Let’s not forget New England’s top CB Christian Gonzalez just re-signed on Tuesday night as well. This could be a time to take advantage of a guy who hasn’t been fully dialed in during the last few weeks because of a contract rift.
Player Prop Best Bet: Jaxon Smith-Njigba Anytime TD (+130)
