London foes go to battle on Sunday, January 25, as Crystal Palace welcomes Chelsea to Selhurst Park for a Premier League matchday 23 encounter. The kick-off is scheduled for 9 a.m. ET. The Eagles are coming off a tough 2-1 defeat to Sunderland, and they’ve also just lost Marc Guehi to Manchester City, making things even more difficult. The Blues, meanwhile, beat Brentford 2-0 last weekend, and also secured a victory mid-week in the Champions League. Read on for the Crystal Palace vs Chelsea picks.

Crystal Palace vs Chelsea Odds

Chelsea heads into this one as a very slim +104 favorite at soccer betting sportsbooks. Palace returns at +254 odds. A draw is priced at +270. The O/U is set at 2.5 goals.

The Blues are riding an impressive 17-match unbeaten run against Palace, but the last three meetings have ended level. These two sides played to a scoreless stalemate last August in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge.

Crystal Palace vs Chelsea Analysis

The reigning FA Cup winners aren’t having the best campaign as they’re sitting in just 13th place, but only six points separate them and Chelsea, who are in sixth spot. A lot can change, but Palace must find consistent results on a weekly basis. It will be difficult to do so after their captain just departed for Man City, leaving a gaping hole in their backline. Guehi was an integral piece for this club, but they would’ve risked losing him for free this summer. Cashing in right now was the smart move, even if it hurts their European aspirations.

The Eagles are in poor form at the moment, heading into Sunday’s clash without a victory in their last 10 games. In fact, Palace have lost seven of those fixtures. Add in the club’s lack of success against Chelsea, and anything more than a draw feels unlikely. It also doesn’t help that Palace has a poor 2-6-3 record at Selhurst Park compared to a 5-1-1 record on the road.

The Blues are likely out of the title race at this point, sitting 16 points from the top of the table. However, making the top four remains a serious possibility, trailing Liverpool by only two points. Chelsea finally notched back-to-back wins over the last week, and that was the first time they’ve done so since early December. Consistency has been a major issue, and that’s a big reason Enzo Maresca was dismissed in favor of Liam Rosenoir.

Chelsea comfortably took care of the Bees on matchday 22, with Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer producing the goods in front of goal for the hosts. That victory ended a five-game winless run for the Blues in league action. Given their success against Palace, the visitors will be confident on Sunday, but they also cannot take Palace for granted because they’re still a strong side. Their last visit to Selhurst Park last January ended 1-1.

Crystal Palace vs Chelsea Injury News

Cheick Doucoure (knee), Eddie Nketiah (thigh), Daichi Kamada (thigh), and Rio Cardines remain sidelined for Palace, but Rodrigo Munoz and Ismaila Sarr should be back in action. Munoz missed substantial time due to a knee injury. Romeo Lavia is still unavailable for Chelsea, while Dario Essugo has sustained an injury that will keep him out for quite some time. Cole Palmer and Reece James are expected to return to the starting XI.

Crystal Palace vs Chelsea Picks

Jean-Philippe Mateta is also looking to leave Palace this month, so things aren’t exactly looking pretty for Palace. Chelsea is starting to find their form, and I do believe they have the upper hand on Sunday against an Eagles side who are in shambles. Hammer the Blues moneyline.
