Leeds vs Newcastle Odds

Newcastle is a slim favorite at +115, but not by much. Leeds come back at +225 at soccer betting sites. A draw is priced at +350.

Three of the last four meetings between these two sides have ended level. The last time they met was in 2023, playing to a 2-2 draw in this same stadium.

Leeds vs Newcastle Analysis

The Peacocks are once again back in the Premier League, but the No. 1 goal will be actually staying up this time. United made the return in 2020 after a 16-year absence and managed to remain in the top flight for three seasons before getting relegated. They’ve spent the last two seasons in the Championship. The club’s return to the EPL was impressive on matchday one, running out 1-0 winners at home against Everton thanks to a penalty from Lukas Nmecha. But, Leeds came back down to earth at the Emirates last weekend.

To say that The Whites were outclassed would be an understatement. Arsenal absolutely dominated Daniel Farke’s men, with Viktor Gyokeres opening his account with a brace. The Gunners were three goals to the good by halftime. Leeds struggled to create any chances, mustering just one shot on target, and three overall. The visitors controlled just 32% of the possession, too. While Newcastle isn’t as strong as a side as Arsenal, they’re no pushover, and have shown they can compete with the best. Leeds must be a lot sharper from the first whistle.

The Alexander Isak drama continues to surround the Magpies. The Swede is adamant on leaving St. James’ Park, with Liverpool still the frontrunners to land him before the transfer window closes shortly. But despite not having their talisman leading the line on matchday two, Newcastle showed serious guts, giving the title-holders a serious run for their money.

Huge Ekitike and Ryan Gravenberch put the visitors up two goals by halftime, with Anthony Gordon also being shown a straight red just before whistle. While practically everyone believed it was game over for the Magpies, they roared back in the second period, with Bruno Guimaraes and William Osula hitting the back of the net. 16-year-old Rio Nguhoma may have bagged a late winner, but regardless, Newcastle never threw in the towel. It was a very gritty performance from Eddie Howe’s men.

Leeds vs Newcastle Injury News

Leeds will be without two key players for Saturday. Japanese international Ao Tanaka has an MCL injury and will miss substantial time. Former Chelsea player Ethan Ampadu is also sidelined due to injury. Newcastle meanwhile, are in serious trouble. Their treatment room is packed, with Joelinton and Sandro Tonali suffering serious injuries in the Liverpool match. Gordon is also suspended for the next three games due to his red card. Also, Fabian Schar has a concussion.

Leeds vs Newcastle Picks

We have two sides who are dealing with a plethora of health issues to regular starters. Neither team is the same force without these important players. I’ll take a draw for Saturday’s encounter.
