Liverpool vs Brighton Odds

The Reds head into this clash as a -145 favorite at soccer betting sportsbooks. Brighton returns as a +350 underdog. A draw is priced at +310.

The Seagulls actually beat Liverpool in May at the Amex Stadium. But, prior to that, Liverpool had won three straight against their EPL matchday 16 opponents.

Liverpool vs Brighton Analysis

Liverpool’s title defense started strongly at the beginning of the campaign, but they quickly fell off a cliff, and it’s been a struggle to find consistency again. Arne Slot’s job is under pressure as the holders sit in 10th in the Premier League table – 10 points behind first-place Arsenal. Liverpool owns a 7-2-6 record. The major drama surrounding this club right now involves Mo Salah, who has seemingly been axed from the squad by Slot. A club legend who led the top flight in goals and assists last term, Salah could potentially be on his way out in the January transfer window.

But the Merseysiders managed to find a positive result on Tuesday without their Egyptian in the team. Liverpool traveled to Milan in Champions League action and managed to beat Inter, thanks to an 88th-minute penalty kick from Dominik Szoboszlai. That was the Reds’ first win in three matches, previously settling for back-to-back draws. Saturday could potentially be Salah’s final game at Anfield if he does depart at the turn of the year because he’s off to compete in AFCON in the next 10 days.

The Seagulls are sitting on 23 points just like Liverpool, compiling a 6-5-4 record this term, which puts them in eighth place. Brighton has bagged 25 goals in 15 games while conceding 21. Danny Welbeck is still producing the goods after all these years, leading the squad with seven goals. Jan Paul van Hecke has also hit the back of the net three times. It did appear Brighton was staring down defeat on Sunday against West Ham after Jarrod Bowen’s late goal, but Georginio Rutter came to the rescue, bagging an equalizer in injury time.

That was a crucial result after a tough 4-3 defeat to Aston Villa at the start of the month. Fabian Hurzeler’s side has just one loss in their last six outings, and they’ve also won three times during that span, beating Leeds, Brentford, and Nottingham Forest. Their last two visits to Anfield ended in 2-1 defeats, and considering how poorly Liverpool is playing, we can expect them to put up another impressive fight here. A victory could push them into the top six, but the same can be said for the hosts.

Liverpool vs Brighton Injury News

Jeremie Frimpong remains sidelined with a hamstring issue for Liverpool, while Conor Bradley is serving a suspension after being handed a red card. As for Brighton, James Milner and Kaoru Mitoma are doubtful to feature, while Stefanos Tzimas remains a long-term absentee.

Liverpool vs Brighton Picks

The Reds are so unpredictable every game. However, a victory over a side as strong as Inter should instill confidence in them, and I do think they will carry that into a massive fixture on home soil. Liverpool will produce the goods.
