These two played to a 2-2 draw in their last meeting, but the Reds did beat United 3-0 at Old Trafford last September.
Liverpool vs Manchester United Analysis
The reigning champions started the campaign in fine form and had a stranglehold on top spot in the league table. But that didn’t last long after a very poor run of form over the last few weeks. Since a slim victory over Southampton on September 23 in the EFL Cup, they’ve failed to win, tasting defeat against Crystal Palace, Galatasaray in the Champions League, and, as previously mentioned, Chelsea, just before Europe took a break for international play. It’s absolutely unheard of for a club of Liverpool’s stature to lose three consecutive games, and they will be biting at the bit to come out on Sunday and make a statement in front of their home fans.
While they’ve looked toothless in the final third over the last month, we cannot forget just how lethal this frontline is. Four different players have two goals apiece, while Hugo Ekitike leads the way with three tallies. Alexander Isak is still trying to find his best at Liverpool as well, having yet to hit the back of the net in the Premier League. They’ve lost just one of their last 14 meetings with the Red Devils, which is a wonderful sign ahead of such an important encounter.
No matter the manager, it’s been a turbulent few years for one of the most prestigious clubs in the world. United has struggled immensely to string together consistent results, and unfortunately, 2025-26 has been no different. Ruben Amorim’s squad is in 10th place with a 3-1-3 record. They haven’t won two games in a row this season, and have already been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Grimsby Town. A victory over Chelsea last month was a step in the right direction before a new-look Brentford side ran riot on them.
But, United gave their fans something to be hopeful about pre-international break with a convincing three points against Sunderland. Mason Mount opened the scoring before summer signing Benjamin Sesko doubled the Red Devils’ lead just before halftime. Finding the back of the net has been an issue for Man United, scoring only nine times in seven matches. But Sunday is an opportunity to potentially take advantage of a Liverpool backline that has shown serious vulnerability this term.
Liverpool vs Manchester United Injury News
Allison Becker is still sidelined for the hosts, but Ibrahima Konate and Ryan Gravenberch will be good to go. United, meanwhile, remains without a plethora of players, including Lisandro Martinez, Noussair Mazraoui, and Ayden Heaven.
Liverpool vs Manchester United Picks
Although Liverpool has looked disappointing, I simply do not see them losing another. The break should’ve allowed them to reset, and playing at Anfield is always an advantage for the holders. I’ll take them to win, and Mo Salah to find the back of the net. He’s been involved in 19 goals in his career against United.
Pick: Liverpool -160, Mo Salah to Score +120 (Sports Interaction)
