Manchester City will face a tough task on Sunday, November 2, as it welcomes in-form Bournemouth to the Etihad Stadium. The kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET. The Cherries have exceeded expectations this term as they sit in second place in the table, just four points out of top spot. As for City, they’re in fifth, but only two points behind their matchday 10 opponents. A victory here could see them leapfrog Bournemouth, depending on results elsewhere. Manchester City vs Bournemouth Odds

City is a big -200 moneyline favorite at soccer betting sportsbooks. Despite Bournemouth’s impressive play, they’re a +475 underdog to come out victorious here.

It stands to reason why the Sky Blues are expected to win. They’ve never lost more than once all-time to Bournemouth, and City has won back-to-back meetings across all competitions.

Manchester City vs Bournemouth Analysis

After a brief spell of struggles at the beginning of the campaign, City is now back on track. Pep Guardiola’s men have been firing on all cylinders, tasting defeat just once in their last 11 matches. But, that lone defeat did come on matchday nine last weekend, with Matty Cash’s early goal proving to be the difference-maker as Aston Villa beat City. The opportunities were there for the Sky Blues, but they failed to hit the back of the net. That’s a rare occurrence, especially considering the type of form Erling Haaland is in.

The Norwegian has already bagged a league-best 11 goals this term, and he’ll be hoping to put away No. 12 on Sunday. Haaland has looked unstoppable, and he has one goal and an assist in six appearances in his career against Bournemouth. City did grab a fourth round EFL cup victory midweek against Swansea City, with Guardiola resting several starters, including his talisman. City’s form at home in league action has been respectable, compiling a 3-0-1 record.

Bournemouth is the surprise of the English top flight so far. Andoni Iraola’s group own a 5-3-1 record, beating the likes of Tottenham, Brighton, and Fulham heading into matchday 10. Their only defeat came on matchday one to Liverpool and even then, the Cherries gave the title-holders a serious run for their money behind the brilliance of Antoine Semenyo. The striker has been clinical this season, ranking second in the Premier League in goals with six.

But, Bournemouth didn’t need his brilliance last weekend in a 2-0 victory over struggling Nottingham Forest. Eli Kroupi and Marcus Tavernier delivered the goods for the Cherries, each scoring once in the first half. The club is now enjoying a seven-match unbeaten run, with their last defeat coming in the third round of the League Cup on August 26. That being said, snatching three points from City will be extremely difficult, especially considering their track record against the English giants.

Manchester City vs Bournemouth Picks

City will be very motivated to come out and impress on home soil after the Villa defeat. While Bournemouth are playing wonderful football, they haven’t faced an opponent like the Sky Blues since the Liverpool clash in August. I’ll take the hosts to secure three points.
