Manchester City vs Manchester United Odds
Moneyline | Man City -130 | Man United +310 |
Total Goals | Ov 3.5 (+130) | Un 3.5 (-185) |
City heads into Sunday’s clash as a -130 moneyline favorite at soccer betting sportsbooks. United is sitting as a +310 underdog. A draw is priced at +300 odds.
Last term, these two played to a scoreless draw. The Red Devils also beat their city rivals on this very same ground on December 15 of last year. But the Sky Blues have won five of their last eight Premier League meetings with Man United.
Manchester City vs Manchester United Analysis
Even though City is back in the Champions League again this season, the 2023-24 campaign was considered an utter disappointment for a club that has regularly been one of the best in the world. Pep Guardiola’s men finished in third place and made several impressive moves this summer to give the squad more youth. The early returns have been a mixed bag, though, already losing twice to Spurs and then Brighton. Their title hopes are already dwindling, especially if they drop another three points on Sunday.
City conceded twice in the second half against the Seagulls after Erling Haaland opened the scoring in the first half. The Sky Blues’ backline is incredibly vulnerable at times, and although United isn’t scoring a ton of goals, they have some dangerous weapons in the final third, most notably Bryan Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha. After a lengthy break, Man City will be hungry to bounce back with a positive result, but this is never an easy clash.
Ruben Amorim has already faced early pressure due to United’s slow start, but there was some optimism when they finally compiled a victory against Burnley, although it wasn’t easy. The Red Devils fell to Arsenal on matchday one, and also played to a 1-1 draw with Fulham on matchday two. The goals finally started to show up versus the Clarets, firing home three. Bruno Fernandes netted the winner from the spot.
While it’s still early in the campaign, United must turn it around in a hurry and start to find positive results on a consistent basis. Mbuemo and Cunha have looked very solid up top, but the goals are yet to come. They will have the chance to exploit a shaky City backline who aren’t exactly looking consistent. A win in this clash won’t only help United move up the table – it would add to City’s misery. There’s no shortage of motivation.
Manchester City vs Manchester United Injury News
City is in rough shape. Summer signing Rayan Cherki is out for two months with a hamstring injury, while Mateo Kovacic is nursing a calf issue. Phil Foden is also a doubt, while John Stones is questionable. As for United, Cunha is a potential doubt, but he’ll be assessed before Sunday. Mason Mount and Diogo Dalot are in the same boat.
Manchester City vs Manchester United Picks
I do believe City will be extremely hungry to come out and secure a statement victory on home soil after a pair of atrocious performances. They know how much is at stake here, and I do think Pep’s men will respond. Take the moneyline.
