Lots of intriguing Premier League fixtures jump off the page from matchday one, but none is as huge as Sunday’s massive clash between Manchester United and Arsenal. The kick-off is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. ET at Old Trafford. The Red Devils had an impressive preseason and didn’t lose once, beating Fiorentina in penalties in their last match. The Gunners, meanwhile, were a mixed bag in summer action, but they did finish on a high note, taking down Athletic Club last weekend. Read on for the Manchester United vs Arsenal picks.

Manchester United vs Arsenal Odds
Moneyline | Man United +310 | Arsenal -118 |
Total Goals | Ov 2.5 (-135) | Un 2.5 (-102) |
Arsenal, who were runners-up last term, head into this matchday one affair as a -118 favorite. That’s an implied win probability of 54.13%. United returns as a +310 underdog and has a 24.3% chance of taking three points.
These two met three times across all competitions last term. The Red Devils beat Arsenal in the FA Cup, while the Gunners secured a victory on home soil against them in league action. The third clash ended level at Old Trafford last March.
Manchester United vs Arsenal Analysis
The 2024-25 campaign was an absolute disaster for one of the biggest clubs in the world. Man United finished in 15th place, and if it wasn’t for Bruno Fernandes, they honestly could’ve been relegated. He was the only player who consistently produced the goods in the final third. Despite their poor season, players are still keen to join United, and they did some good business in the summer transfer window. Bryan Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha joined the Red Devils from Brentford and Wolves, respectively, with Mbuemo bagging 20 goals last term for the Bees.
United also managed to secure the signing of Red Bull Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko, who is one of the better finishers in Europe. The Red Devils added some much-needed reinforcements in the final third after scoring only 44 times in 38 matches last season. All three players should give Ruben Amorim a major boost. But the beginning of the campaign will be a dogfight for the club. They have a daunting schedule through the first two months, with Man City, Chelsea, and Liverpool all ahead, leading up to the end of October. Right off the bat, United will be tested.
Arsenal has struggled to get over the hump and become a legitimate title contender over the last two years, finishing as runners-up in back-to-back seasons. In 2023-24, they blew their chance at winning it all, but last term, the Gunners finished 10 points behind eventual winners Liverpool. That being said, there’s a feeling in North London that Arsenal could finally go all the way after an impressive summer.
While the additions of Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, and Martin Zubimendi were key, the headliner is Swedish superstar Viktor Gyokeres, who scored nearly 100 goals over the last two seasons at Sporting CP. Gyokeres is considered one of the best strikers on the globe, and his style of play is a perfect fit in England. With the Gunners lacking a true No. 9 last season, Gyokeres is seen as potentially the missing piece to the puzzle for Arsenal as they look to finally make their title dreams a reality.
Manchester United vs Arsenal Picks
This is always a cagey affair when these two clash. I do believe United will be much better this season, but so will Arsenal. The Red Devils have only lost twice in their last 18 games against the Gunners at home, with 10 victories during that span and six draws. I’m eyeing a draw here, with both teams to score. Nine meetings in a row have seen at least one goal.
