Manchester United will be looking to play spoiler to Aston Villa’s Champions League dreams on Sunday, May 25, when they play host to the Lions at Old Trafford. The kick-off is scheduled for 10 AM ET. The Red Devils are set for a disappointing finish in the bottom half of the table, but they can finish the campaign on a high note here. As for Villa, they’re in the mix for a Champions League spot alongside several other clubs, with the final two berths set to be decided on matchday 38. This is a must-win for them.

Manchester United vs Aston Villa Odds
Moneyline | Man United +333 | Aston Villa -135 |

Villa is a heavy -135 favorite here, while United returns as a +333 underdog at soccer betting sites. The total is set at 2.5 goals.
The Red Devils have actually won four of the last five meetings with the Lions. The reverse fixture last October finished in a 1-1 draw at Villa Park.
Manchester United vs Aston Villa Analysis
It’s been quite a disappointing season for Man United, and their only chance at hardware resulted in defeat this week, losing in the Europa League final to Tottenham. Ruben Amorim’s side is sitting in 16th place in the Premier League standings and will likely remain in that area, regardless of Sunday’s result. They’ve compiled a very poor 10-9-18 record, barely scoring a goal per match. Without Bruno Fernandes, United could very well be in the relegation zone.
The Red Devils head into this game in terrible form, losing four of their last five across all competitions. Amorim’s group just tasted defeat in back-to-back Premier League outings against Chelsea and West Ham before falling to Spurs in Bilbao. As for playing at home, United is 6-3-9 this season, compared to a 4-6-9 record on the road.
Villa opened eyes across Europe in 2024-25 when they finished in the top eight of the Champions League and nearly beat PSG in the quarterfinals. Unai Emery’s brilliance in big competitions continued. But, they haven’t been as consistent in England and will need results to go their way, along with a win, to make it into the UCL in 2025-26. The Lions own a 19-9-9 record, scoring 58 times while conceding 49.
Ollie Watkins has led the charge up top with 16 goals and eight assists, while Morgan Rogers has also netted eight and set up another 10. Villa has just two wins in their last 12 games against Manchester United, which isn’t exactly a promising sign. But, they’re facing the Red Devils at a time when they’re in brutal shape. Villa must take advantage, or else they may end up only competing in Europa or the Conference League next season.
Manchester United vs Aston Villa Injury News
United remain without Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt due to injuries. For Villa, they won’t have Marcus Rashford available as he’s injured and unable to face his parent club. Youri Tielemans, a key player, is also sidelined with a calf injury.
Manchester United vs Aston Villa Picks
While United has had success against Villa, there is so much more at stake for the visitors, who simply cannot afford to drop any points. They’ve also won four of their last five away matches. I expect the Lions to bring their best and give themselves a legitimate shot at qualifying for the Champions League.
