Sunderland vs Leeds Odds

Sunderland has +170 odds for this clash at soccer betting sites. Leeds returns at +179 on the moneyline. A draw is priced at +220.

This is the first meeting between these two sides in the top flight since 2002. However, they’ve locked horns many times in the past years in the Championship, with Leeds winning their most recent clash in February.

Sunderland vs Leeds Analysis

After earning promotion earlier this year, Sunderland’s return to the Premier League has been a pleasant surprise, to say the least. The Black Cats are sitting in seventh place in the table with a 7-6-4 record, and they’re only two points from a Champions League spot. That’s how well they’ve played this term. Regis Le Bris’s men have picked up several impressive results in 2025-26, beating Chelsea, Newcastle, and even drawing both Liverpool and Arsenal. Sunderland is giving the best of the best a run for their money.

The Black Cats head into this affair in respectable form, tasting defeat just once in their last five fixtures. A victory over the Magpies was followed up by a hard-fought draw with Brighton on December 20 at the Amex Stadium. Sunderland had a plethora of chances, but they couldn’t find the back of the net. Scoring goals hasn’t been a huge strength, netting just 19 times in 17 games. But, they’ve also conceded just 17.

Leeds are currently six points above safety after sitting very close to the relegation zone just a month ago. An impressive run of results have shot them up the table, notching a historic victory over Chelsea at the start of December, followed by back-to-back draws with Liverpool and Brentford. The Peacocks then welcomed in-form Palace to Elland Road last weekend and put four past them in a huge win.

Daniel Farke’s side is now sitting in 16th with a 5-4-8 record, and this solid run has undoubtedly given Leeds some much-needed confidence. Dominic Calvert-Lewin played hero against the Eagles, scoring a brace. He’s now scored seven times this term, and figures to play a key part in the attack on Sunday in Sunderland as well. However, The Peacocks have been horrible on the road, compiling a 1-1-6 record.

Sunderland vs Leeds Injury News

The Africa Cup of Nations has left Sunderland without a plethora of players. Arthur Masuaku, Reinildo Mandava, Noah Sadiki, Chemsdine Talbi and Bertrand Traore are all representing their countries. Leeds, meanwhile, is only missing three players – Sean Longstaff, Lukas Nmecha, and Daniel James.

Sunderland vs Leeds Picks

It’s hard for me to look past Leeds’ terrible form on the road. Plus. Sunderland is fantastic at the Stadium of Light, going 5-3-0. I’ll take the hosts to notch another three points.
