That’s because the top four guys on the odds board are the last four guys to lead the league in rushing TDs, with one leading the league last year and the other three tying for the honour in 2024.

The Favourites

There are some really strong players at the top of this odds table, and some really strong cases to go with them. Jahmyr Gibbs (+550) was already leading the NFL in rushing TDs (16 in 2024) with David Montgomery there. Imagine those numbers without his buddy.

Jonathan Taylor (+650) just led the league in rushing TDs, and Derrick Henry (+475) has done it thrice since 2019. James Cook (+900) is likely to see a bit of a regression considering he scored a lot of long TDs last season. But also because he has to contend with our best bet in the Buffalo Bills backfield.

Our Best Bet: Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills (+1,000)

Josh Allen has been a touchdown machine over the last few years. And he won’t be stopping anytime soon. And anyways, why would he or the Bills want to mess with something that has worked so well. When the Bills get it in close, Allen is the go-to guy. From inside the 10 last year, Cook had six TDs on 26 attempts while Allen had 13 on 21. But inside the five, Allen had 11 TDs on 17 carries Cook’s six on 16.

Allen was tied for tied for second with 15 rushing TDs in 2023, tied for ninth with 12 in 2024, and finished third with 14 last year. This could be the season he breaks through and becomes the first QB to lead the league in rushing TDs since the 1970 merger.

Long Shot Dark Horse Candidate: Kenneth Walker III, Kansas City Chiefs (+1,800)

If you’re more of a RB traditionalist but you also want a long shot, Kenneth Walker III would be our pick. We also like Patrick Mahomes to throw a lot of TDs this year, but Walker is set to eat too in what should be a potent attack. There is quite literally no one to take goal line snaps off of Walker: his current backup is a fifth-round rookie.

Not to mention both Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid have been positively gushing over what they’ve seen from the reigning Super Bowl MVP so far during the offseason. Both QB and coach have said Mahomes will be running less this year, so that means more carries for their bellcow. And at +1,800, it’s worth a pop.
