Panthers vs Oilers Analysis
Florida has been a force all season long, and that’s carried over to these playoffs. After adding Seth Jones and Brad Marchand at the trade deadline, one could argue that the Panthers are an even better team than last year, when they beat this same Oilers group in the Finals. Marchand has shined in this series, already scoring five goals. He had two in the Game 5 throttling of Edmonton. Sam Bennett, who leads the Cats with 22 points in the playoffs, also had a goal.
The Panthers fully exposed the Oilers’ blue line on Saturday, putting four goals past Calvin Pickard, who was starting in place of the struggling Stuart Skinner. While Florida has certainly been put to the test in the Cup Finals by Edmonton, Game 5 felt like a momentum shifter, especially considering they smashed the Oilers on the road. There will be no shortage of motivation for the Cats to close this series out, but Edmonton is also going to be coming out with everything they have.
Connor McDavid and Co. have shown resiliency all season long. I mean, even if this series, the Oilers were down 4-0 in the first period of Game 4 and ultimately completed the comeback, winning 5-4 in overtime. The Oilers can never be counted out, and that’s likely why there’s minimal panic in this locker room ahead of a win or go home Game 6 on the road.
Both McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have dominated in the postseason, tallying 33 points apiece. Arguably the two best players in the world, you can expect the star duo to bring their absolute best on Tuesday as they look to extend Edmonton’s season. The Oilers need to play a lot better defensively and goaltending must improve, whether it’s Pickard or Skinner in between the posts.
Panthers vs Oilers Game 6 Picks
We’ve seen time and time again how the Oilers are capable of responding. I mean, they overcame a 3-0 series deficit to force Game 7 last June against the Panthers. Edmonton is hungry for a title, and I do believe they will give themselves a chance to win a championship. Take the Oilers to force Game 7 back at home.
