Anthony Edwards Over 27.5 Points (-115)
Anthony Edwards was well on his way to the worst two-game stretch of his young NBA career through the first half of Game 1 against the Warriors on Tuesday. He was 0fer in the first half, but came back with a big second to make the stats look a little bit more respectable. He finished with 23 points on 41 percent shooting.
However, the NBA’s leading three-point shooter this season continued to struggle from deep. He went 1-for-5 from long range, which means he’s now shot 1-for-16 from three-point land over the last two games. Something’s gotta give here. Edwards talked a lot of smack after beating the Lakers, and he looked a bit shell-shocked along with his team to start Game 1. He’s the type of guy to want to back up his words.
He was more aggressive in the second half though, and we expect that to continue into Game 2. Not only is Edwards due for an offensive explosion, his team is also due for a big bounce back win as well after losing to a mostly Curry-less Warriors team in Game 1. Curry will be out again in Game 2, and we believe Edwards is going to get back to business. We would take this prop all the way up to 30 points. There’s no way he allows his team to go down 0-2 as they head on the road for Games 3 and 4. No chance.
Brandin Podziemski Over 12.5 Points (-120)
Edwards is our favorite bet for the night, but there are a couple of other player props for Game 2 that we feel very confident about. The only one we like for the Warriors is on second-year guard Brandin Podziemski. With Curry out, he’s going to see a lot more looks, and he feels like the most consistent scorer behind Jimmy Butler compared with the streaky Buddy Hield and the pass-first Draymond Green.
Podziemski has played 10 games without Curry this season, and he’s averaged a solid 14.4 points in those contests. That gives us more than a little room above the 12.5 points prop betting sites are giving him for this one. He also scored more than a dozen points in six of those 10 games. After a 1-for-7 night in Game 1, he will be locked in for Game 2 as well.
Naz Reid Over 1.5 Three-Pointers Made (-155)
Returning to the Timberwolves, we take a look at one of their few positive performers from Game 1 in big man Naz Reid. He played a whopping 34 minutes on Tuesday and scored 19 points on 57 percent from the field. We expect him to continue seeing a lot of playing time with Rudy Gobert essentially a non-factor against the small-ball Warriors.
Reid has been a three-point marksman for the Wolves, averaging 2.3 triples during this playoff run after putting up 2.2 a night during the regular season. Reid has hit 2+ triples in four of six playoff games. Of the last 20 games in which he’s seen 30+ minutes, he’s dropped in at least two triples in 16 of them. The juice is heavy here, but that’s for a reason.
