Villarreal vs Juventus Odds

Villarreal has +125 odds for this matchday two clash at soccer sportsbooks. Juventus returns at +220 on the road. A draw is priced at +240.

There’s been two previous meetings between Villarreal and Juve in the Champions League. The Spanish side won the most recent clash, while the other ended level.

Villarreal vs Juventus Analysis

It’s been a nice start to the domestic campaign for Villarreal, who are sitting in third place with 16 points from seven games. They’re just three points behind Barcelona in top spot. Marcelino’s men have won three consecutive matches in LaLiga, beating Osasuna, Sevilla, and most recently, Athletic Club. Alberto Moleiro played hero on Saturday, scoring the winner in the 77th minute to help his side snatch another three points.

When it comes to the Champions League, Villarreal did actually lose their opening game on matchday one, falling to Tottenham in North London courtesy of an own goal early in the first half. The Yellow Submarine were by no means outplayed by the Premier League outfit, but the end product lacked, failing to register a single shot on goal. Canadian youngster Tajon Buchanan has been the leading man up top, scoring three times so far. They could use his brilliance on Wednesday as he faces his national team compatriot, Jonathan David.

After a few years of being irrelevant, it does appear Juventus is ready to compete on the big stage again. A busy summer window saw them add talent to an already quality squad, and they’ve looked solid so far across the board. The Old Lady is only one point out of first place in Serie A, and remains unbeaten with a 3-2-0 record. The title could be a legitimate reality for them this term, but the club will also be looking to make some noise in a competition they know all too well.

There was no shortage of fireworks for Juve in their first fixture of the UCL campaign, playing to an epic 4-4 draw with Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Stadium. Both of these sides exchanged blows in the second half, with all eight goals being scored in a span of just 44 minutes. Dusan Vlahovic bagged a brace for the hosts, while Lloyd Kelly played hero for the Italians, rescuing a point at the death. Juventus has no issues scoring goals, but they can be vulnerable at the back at times. While Villarreal may not be hitting the back of the net at a rapid rate, the Old Lady must be better defensively in Europe.

Villarreal vs Juventus Injury News

Villarreal is missing Juan Foyth, Gerard Moreno, Willy Kambwala, and Ayoze Perez through injury. Pau Navarro is absent as he’s representing Spain at the U-20 World Cup. Juve is without Fabio Miretti, while Khephren Thuram and Bremer are battling injuries as well, although they may be available.

Villarreal vs Juventus Picks

Juve have yet to lose this season. I do think that unbeaten run will continue, but Villarreal is capable of giving the Serie A standouts a run for their money. I see value in a draw, with both teams to score.
