Spain will be looking to keep it rolling in World Cup Qualifying when they hit the road to face Turkey on Sunday, September 7. The kick-off is scheduled for 2:45 pm ET at Torku Arena in Konya. The European champions began their campaign with a victory on Thursday night, making quick work of Bulgaria behind goals from Mikel Merino, Mikel Oyarzabal, and Marc Cucurella. Turkey vs Spain Odds

La Roja is a -190 favorite at soccer betting sites. Turkey sits at +450 odds here. A draw is priced at +350.

Spain has won three straight against Sunday’s opponents, including a victory at the 2016 Euros in the group stages.

Turkey vs Spain Analysis

While Turkey is a regular in the Euros every four years, it’s been a long time since this side has actually booked a spot in the World Cup. Their last appearance was in 2002, earning a miraculous third place finish. But, that was also only their second World Cup showing ever. Turkey is a favorite to be runners-up in this group behind Spain, which means they’d earn a spot in the playoffs for a chance to be in next summer’s global event in Canada, USA, and Mexico.

Vincenzo Montella’s squad came out of the gates with fire against Georgia on Thursday, with Mert Muldur opening the scoring before Kerem Akturkoglu netted a brace. But, the Georgians responded and even scored a second in the dying seconds of injury time. Unfortunately, it was too little too late, and Turkey managed to secure the three points.

Spain is one of the best sides in the world and that’s not going to change anytime soon given the top-notch young talent they have in their squad. Headlining the pack is Barcelona phenom Lamine Yamal, who has been putting his brilliance on full display for a couple of years now. While he didn’t hit the back of the net versus Bulgaria, Yamal was the class of the match, but he did need to exit early due to back pain. However, Yamal is healthy enough to play on Sunday, according to boss Luis de la Fuente.

La Roja’s World Cup Qualifying has started later than others due to the Nations League earlier this year, but it’s almost a foregone conclusion they’ll finish at the top of Group E and automatically qualify for next summer’s tournament. Despite having boatloads of European success, Spain has actually struggled to produce the goods in the biggest sporting event on the globe, failing to make it past the Round of 16 since lifting the grand prize in 2010. Surely, it will be a different story this time around, with many different players bursting with youthfulness.

Turkey vs Spain Injury News

Turkey have no injuries to report and will likely roll out the exact starting XI they did against Georgia. As previously mentioned, Yamal exited early versus Bulgaria, but all signs point to him playing on Sunday. There’s no other injuries for Spain.

Turkey vs Spain Picks

The quality Spain possesses blows Turkey out of the water. I don’t see them having any issues securing another three points here.
