Bears vs. Packers Betting Analysis
In a weekend that promises to be jam-packed with matchups that could change the playoff picture in either conference, we get a massive one to start off on Saturday. Neither team can clinch anything with a win in this game, but the Bears and Packers know that the race for the NFC North is likely going to come down to whoever wins this one.
Since the Packers won the previous matchup, a win by them would be pretty tough to overcome for the Bears. They have been doubted all year, and we count ourselves in that group.
And honestly, we’re still very tempted to take the Packers here. It’s rare that betting apps will offer Green Bay at plus odds like they are doing for this one. But we’ve been burned by the Bears too many times. So we must restrain ourselves. Instead, we found some excellent value in the player prop market.
Josh Jacobs scores so often that it’s a surprise whenever we see his odds to score a touchdown being offered at a reasonable level. But it happens surprisingly often. This year, he has scored in 10 of the 13 games in which he’s played. Two of those are the game where he was injured and left midway through (his backup score a vintage Jacobs TD from the one-yard-line), and his first game back from that injury.
Jacobs has been a bonafide touchdown machine since touching down in cheese country. He has scored in 22 of 31 games since joining the Packers last year, including one trip to pay dirt in 21 of his last 24 games, including playoffs.
He has also been especially potent against these Bears. He scored a touchdown against this defense just two weeks ago, he scored in both games against Chicago last year, and he has scored in five of six games against the Bears overall in his career.
Throw in the fact that Chicago has allowed a running back to score a touchdown in three of their last five games, and we believe Jacobs’ anytime touchdown odds to be more than reasonable. So we’ll just go ahead and take ‘em.
Best Bet: Josh Jacobs Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-135)
