Braves vs Orioles Analysis
After a disappointing 2025 campaign, the Braves are very much back in business this season. Atlanta sits in first place in the National League East with a 60-42 record, 4.5 games ahead of the second-place Philadelphia Phillies. Walt Weiss’s ball club just took part in a tough series with the Padres, and Chris Sale’s dominance led them to victory in the rubber match on Thursday. Sale struck out 11, while the Braves offense clubbed four home runs.
In fact, this lineup is absolutely flourishing at the dish right now, no matter who is on the bump. Atlanta has a 150 wRC+ over the last week while posting a .229 ISO. The Braves are also hitting .305 as a team during that span. Weiss will be hoping Grant Holmes can keep them in Friday’s contest, with the righty compiling a 3.21 FIP over his last four appearances.
The O’s are definitely in a much different position than Atlanta. Baltimore is three games below .500, and a whole 10 games out of first in the always competitive American League East. But, the Orioles only sit three games back in the AL Wild Card race. Making the playoffs is still a realistic possibility for a Baltimore team that was considered a World Series contender just a few years ago. They do enter this series in good shape, going 8-2 in their last 10 games.
The Orioles’ series finale win over the Red Sox was crucial because that’s exactly who they’re hunting down in the Wild Card. Baltimore ended Boston’s 14-game winning streak, and they will be hoping to keep it rolling against one of the best ball clubs in the big leagues. Trevor Rogers is certainly the right man to be on the hill for the hosts. The lefty is really finding his best lately, posting a 2.73 FIP across his last four starts.
Braves vs Orioles Picks
Baltimore’s offense has been quite average over the last week, while Atlanta is swinging it exceptionally well. While Rogers is limiting damage, his 40% hard-hit rate in the last month is concerning against a Braves lineup carrying a 42.8% hard-hit rate in their previous 10 appearances. The visitors will keep it rolling.
