Real Madrid vs Manchester City Odds

Man City sits as a very slim +104 moneyline favorite at soccer betting sportsbooks. Madrid returns at +250 odds, while a draw is priced at +280.

These two sides have met 12 times in the Champions League, including six times since the 2021-22 campaign. Los Blancos knocked City out in the play-offs last season, winning 6-3 on aggregate.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City Analysis

While they may be the record winners in this prestigious competition, it hasn’t been the best campaign for Madrid. They forced Xabi Alonso out the door, and the Spanish giants have shown a lot of inconsistency. Despite taking down Benfica in the play-offs, Real had tasted defeat in a LaLiga games before and after each leg of the Champions League knockout stages.

It wasn’t until this past weekend that Alvaro Arbeloa’s men finally got back on track in league action, beating Celta Vigo 2-1. Still, Los Blancos sit four points behind first-place Barcelona, who have a stranglehold on the title amid their impressive form. Although the race for the ultimate prize in Spain remains alive, Madrid will also be eyeing European glory. But if the hosts play as they did over the last few weeks, City will dominate them. It’s that simple.

City is having a respectable season overall, sitting seven points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal, while finishing in the eighth and final automatic qualification spot in the Champions League group stages. Pep Guardiola’s squad compiled a 5-1-2 record, and since a 2-1 shock defeat to Bodo/Glimt on January 20, the Sky Blues haven’t lost a match.

Guardiola’s side has won nine of 11 games, and they just cruised into the FA Cup quarterfinals on Saturday by smashing Newcastle 3-1. City is one of the most in-form clubs in Europe at the moment, and that could cause trouble for a Madrid side that has looked dysfunctional at times. However, City is winless in their last four visits to the Estadio Bernabeu, finishing level in two of those meetings.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City Injury News

Real Madrid will be without several key players for Wednesday’s clash, with Kylian Mbappe (knee) and Jude Bellingham (hamstring) both expected to miss out. They join long-term absentee Rodrygo (ACL) as well as Eder Militao (hamstring), Dani Ceballos, and Alvaro Carreras (both calf) on the sidelines. Eduardo Camavinga (dental) and David Alaba (calf) remain doubtful and will be assessed ahead of kickoff.

Manchester City have far fewer concerns, with Josko Gvardiol (tibial fracture) and Mateo Kovacic (ankle/heel) the only confirmed absentees. Pep Guardiola is expected to have a near full-strength squad available and should revert to a stronger lineup after heavily rotating in the win over Newcastle last weekend.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City Picks

Bellingham and Mbappe are two massive absences for Madrid, and City’s clean bill of health gives them the upper hand, plus their fine form. I’ll take the visitors to grab a crucial first-leg victory on Wednesday.
