Dodgers vs Yankees Odds

As you can see, there’s no clear favorite at MLB betting sites. The Dodgers have -115 odds, while the Yankees sit at -112. Neither team has announced its starting pitcher, which definitely affects the odds. The total is set at 9.5.

These two ball clubs haven’t met since last season, when Los Angeles took two out of three from New York.

Dodgers vs Yankees Analysis

It’s been another fantastic season for the defending World Series champions, and a three-peat remains very much possible. Dave Roberts’ team still has the best record in the big leagues at 61-36, and that’s despite just getting swept by the Arizona Diamondbacks before the All-Star break. The Dodgers are 11.5 games clear at the top of the National League West, and they remain an elite ball club.

Los Angeles is top-five in every major offensive category, and they’re averaging 5.2 runs per game. On the mound, they’re also incredibly consistent, ranking third with a 3.56 ERA. No staff has allowed fewer hits and runs per game than the Dodgers. What’s even more impressive is that both Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow have missed substantial time due to injury, yet the rotation continues to deal. It’s unclear who will get the ball on Friday, but Roki Sasaki is a logical option. He hasn’t pitched since July 8.

Being without your franchise cornerstone is far from ideal, but the Yankees have managed to remain a contender with Aaron Judge sidelined. The reigning AL MVP hasn’t played since May 31, while Giancarlo Stanton is also on the shelf. Nevertheless, New York is only three games out of first place in the American League East, and a big reason for that has to do with the brilliance of Ben Rice.

Rice has been the leading catalyst for this lineup, smacking 29 home runs while hitting .279. The Yankees rank seventh in runs scored, and on the mound, another youngster has made a major difference – Cam Schlittler. The righty is leading the AL Cy Young race, posting a stellar 2.05 ERA and 9-5 record across 20 starts. In fact, New York’s staff have an MLB-best 3.39 ERA, and their bullpen also deserves a lot of credit. Gerrit Cole is a likely candidate to start on Friday, but Schlittler is on seven days’ rest, although Aaron Boone will probably save him for the weekend.

Dodgers vs Yankees Picks

It's difficult to make a clear-cut pick when the pitching matchup is TBD. However, the Dodgers have dominated the Yankees in recent meetings, and a break will have allowed them to regroup. Los Angeles will come out and end their losing streak.
