Guardians vs White Sox Odds

There’s no clear favorite here at MLB betting sites. The Guardians sit at -102 on the moneyline, while the White Sox have -125 odds to win the series opener. The O/U is set at 8.5 runs, and the Under has cashed in two of the three meetings this season.

Chicago took two out of three in that series just last week at home, but Cleveland had won three straight against the White Sox prior.

Guardians vs White Sox Analysis

Cleveland is having a respectable 2026 campaign, sitting in second in the AL Central with a 45-42 record. While they’re just 4-6 in their last 10 games, the Guards did win their series finale against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday, scoring nine runs in the process. However, offense has been a concern for this ball club. They’re towards the bottom of the big leagues in nearly every major offensive category. The only reason Cleveland is staying afloat as a potential playoff team is due to their solid pitching staff.

The Guardians rank eighth in the Majors with a 3.77 ERA. Tanner Bibee, Gavin Williams, Park Messick, and Slade Cecconi have all given them consistency in the rotation. Cecconi is the only on that list with an ERA over four, and he’ll get the ball in the opener. While the right-hander’s ERA does sit at 4.19 overall, he’s pitched very well lately. Cecconi owns a 1.88 ERA across his last five outings, allowing just 0.94 HR/9 during that span.

The White Sox have been one of the biggest surprises of the season. After years of being an AL Central bottom-feeder, Chicago looks primed to make their first postseason appearance since 2021. The Sox are in first place with a 45-40 record, and offense has been the name of the game for this group. Chicago is fifth in runs, second in homers, and top-10 in slugging, OBP, and OPS. Colson Montgomery and Munetaka Murakami have combined for 41 homers on their own, while the likes of Tristan Peters, Sam Antonacci, and Chase Meidroth are all swinging it well, too.

While the White Sox’s pitching ranks around the middle of the pack in the MLB, Davis Martin has emerged as a clear-cut ace. Martin has made 16 starts, posting a 9-3 record and 3.00 ERA. He’s struck out 90 hitters in 93 innings while walking just 24. He’s been lights out over his last two outings, sporting a 2.50 xERA and now giving up a single home run. Martin has also limited opponents to a 33.3% hard hit rate during that span.

Guardians vs White Sox Picks

We have two in-form starters on the hill who tend to usually pitch deep into games. While Cleveland’s bullpen has been far worse than Chicago’s over the last week, I believe both Cecconi and Martin will limit the damage enough to keep this one low-scoring before turning things over to the relievers. The Under holds value.
