The Kansas City Royals welcome the Philadelphia Phillies to Kauffman Stadium on Monday afternoon for the series finale of their three-game set. The first pitch is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. ET. This series wraps up late due to the two teams taking Saturday off because of World Cup festivities at Arrowhead Stadium. Royals vs Phillies Odds

The Phillies are a heavy -179 road favorite at MLB betting sites with their ace on the mound. The Royals come back at +139 on the moneyline, while the O/U is set at 8.5 runs.

Royals vs Phillies Analysis

It’s been a rough season for Kansas City, which is one of the worst teams in the American League. Ahead of Sunday’s game, the Royals sit at 35-54, which puts them dead last in the AL Central. The playoffs are already out of question, and it’s not even the All-Star break yet. KC is just 2-8 in their last 10 contests. There’s no area of strength for this ball club, ranking 22nd in runs scored, 23rd in slugging, and 19th in OBP. On the mound, it’s also been a struggle, ranking 28th in ERA.

Left-hander Noah Cameron takes the ball in the rubber match, and it’s been a poor campaign for him. The youngster owns a 4-6 record and 4.95 ERA across 16 starts, striking out 75 in 83.2 innings while walking 24. He hasn’t found any consistency lately either, posting a 5.85 xERA across his last five appearances while allowing 1.50 HR/9. Cameron will have his work cut out against a Phillies lineup that has a .214 ISO and a 44.4% hard-hit rate over the last week.

It wasn’t the best start to 2026 for Philadelphia, which even fired its manager early in the campaign. But they’ve turned things around, and the playoffs are very much in sight. Ahead of Sunday’s contest, the Phillies are 11 games above .500, and only three games out of first place in the heavily competitive National League East. They also sit in first in the NL Wild Card race. While offense hasn’t been super consistent all year, the Phillies are raking right now. Over the last month, the ball club is batting .263 with 112 wRC+ and .455 SLG.

Philly will be feeling confident on Monday as Cristopher Sanchez takes the bump. The southpaw continues to dominate, collecting a 2.00 ERA and 10-3 record across 18 outings. He’s only walked 23 hitters in 117 innings of work while striking out 136. In fact, he ranks third in the big leagues in Ks. Over Sanchez’s last two starts, he owns a 2.69 FIP. The Dominican is coming off a scoreless seven innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Royals vs Phillies Picks

Cameron is extremely hittable right now, and the Phillies are consistently squaring up the baseball. Sanchez, meanwhile, is up against a struggling Royals lineup that has posted just 63 wRC+ over their last 12 games prior to Sunday’s matchup. I’ll confidently back Philadelphia on the moneyline.
