Sanchez is the current frontrunner at MLB betting sites. He owns +199 odds to win the award, while Misiorowski, the flame-throwing right-hander from the Milwaukee Brewers, has +259 odds to win his first Cy Young.

Christopher Sanchez (+199)

The Philadelphia Phillies may be having a disappointing campaign, but Sanchez is certainly doing his part. The southpaw has the third-best ERA in the Majors at 1.62, and he’s also third in strikeouts, racking up 86 Ks in just 72.1 innings of work. Despite Philly’s offensive struggles, he’s often received run support, compiling a 5-2 record across 11 starts, including one complete game. Sanchez has thrown five straight scoreless outings ahead of his next start on Wednesday.

Jacob Misiorowski (+259)

As a rookie last season, Misiorowski wowed everyone with his electrifying fastball that regularly touches triple digits. In his first full big league campaign, he hasn’t missed a beat in ‘26. The righty has emerged as the clear-cut ace of the Brewers staff, posting a 5-2 record and 1.83 ERA. He’s fourth in the MLB in earned run average, and Misiorowski leads the Majors in strikeouts with 100 in just 64 innings. He’s been practically unhittable, also owning a 0.83 WHIP.

Paul Skenes (+478)

Skenes is the reigning NL Cy Young champ, winning by unanimous vote last season. While it’s looking unlikely he’ll take home the award again, someone as talented as him always has a chance. After all, it’s only May. Skenes owns a 3.00 ERA and a 6-3 record, and his 0.82 WHIP is what really sticks out. He’s only walked nine hitters in 60 innings of work. If Skenes can avoid getting hit around at times in the coming months, it’ll strengthen his Cy Young case.

Chris Sale (+697)

Sale is still one of the nastiest pitchers in the sport, and he finally took home his first Cy Young in 2024. He’s having another dominant campaign this season, sitting sixth in ERA at 1.89, and the veteran has also struck out 72 in 62 frames. Sale hasn’t missed a beat, even at 37 years of age, and he’s definitely in the mix for the NL Cy Young with plenty of baseball left to play. He cannot be slept on.

NL Cy Young Futures Picks

At this point in the season, it’s worth making wagers on a few different starters. I do believe Sanchez and Misiorowski are both worth backing, while someone as elite as Sale, who has barely shown any weakness this year, needs to be considered as well.
