The most popular player in the WNBA is Caitlin Clark. Her popularity is shaking things up for the sports betting sites as more bettors are becoming interested in betting on the WNBA. BetMGM has the numbers to prove it.

Highlights

  • Caitlin Clark’s impact on BetMGM WNBA betting
  • Over 50 per cent of the tickets and almost 70 per cent of the money on Clark to win WNBA MVP
  • Indiana Fever with most money on them to win 2025 WNBA championship

Caitlin Clark Attracting Bettors on BetMGM

BetMGM’s WNBA betting numbers revealed Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark’s arrival in the WNBA has had a significant impact on public bets and BetMGM odds. Last season was the most bet WNBA campaign at BetMGM, according to the sportsbook, and Clark’s rookie season in the league. “Our futures have definitely been influenced by the popularity of the Fever/Clark,” said Hannah Luther, BetMGM trader.  “Contrary to last season, we think the Fever have a legitimate chance at the title. So, we are taking a bit more proactive action to mitigate our liabilities on them.” According to the sportsbook, more WNBA futures markets were added because of the increased betting interest for Clark and the Fever.

BetMGM revealed some of its early public betting numbers for the WNBA this week. About 54.9 per cent of the tickets and almost 69.3 per cent of the money was on Clark to win the 2025 MVP award after winning the Rookie of the Year award in 2024. Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier is the only other player who has more than 10 per cent of the tickets and 10 per cent of the money on them to win the award. Clark is the betting favourite to win MVP to start the season. Clark has +110 odds to win the MVP award on BetMGM at the moment. Collier has the second best odds at +275.

Most tickets and money on the Indiana Fever to win the WNBA championship

BetMGM bettors have also bet on the Fever more than any other team by a huge margin. Like Clark, the Fever had over 50 per cent of the tickets and about 70 per cent of the handle to win the 2025 WNBA championship. To be exact, 52.6 per cent of the money and 75.7 per cent of the money was on the Fever to win the championship this season. The Lynx were second with 10 per cent of the tickets and 8.8 per cent of the money. No other team had over 7 per cent of the tickets or 5 per cent of the money.

To go along with the MVP award and WNBA championship, BetMGM is one of the betting sites that are taking bets on the other WNBA awards. “Awards markets can be complex to price up,” Luther said. “Trades, draft picks, coaching changes, and sharp action all affect our odds. Betting on DPOY, 6POY, and MIP has been more varied, and those markets have attracted more sharp bets.”

The 2025 WNBA regular season has begun

The WNBA regular season started on May 16. The Washington Mystics defeated the Atlanta Dream 90-94. The Lynx defeated the Dallas Wings 99-84. The Los Angeles Sparks defeated the Golden State Valkyries 84-67. Clark’s first game was on May 17 vs the Chicago Sky, a 58-93 win for the Fever. Clark finished the game with 20 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds.
