Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina Best Odds

Canada begins its World Cup 2026 journey on June 12 at 3 p.m. ET at Toronto Stadium against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first game of Group B group stage action. Canada comes in as a slightly surprisingly large favourite against their European opponents. We’ve got you covered with betting tips, predictions, and odds from the best betting sites in Canada for the highly anticipated showdown!

Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina Analysis

Canada

Canada comes in as one of three host nations for World Cup 2026. That’s an advantage right there. They have a very athletic and young side, but they will have to figure out how to survive the group stage until their Bayern Munich superstar is ready to contribute. With Jonathan David, Ismal Kone, and Stephen Eustaquio lending the Canadian squad some European cache, they should have enough talent to make it out of what might be the weakest group in the tournament in Group B.

Team news: Moise Bombito (leg) and Marcelo Flores (leg) will miss the tournament. Superstar Alphonso Davies (hamstring) is expected to play in the World Cup, but manager Jesse Marsch said he’s unlikely to be ready for the game against Bosnia. Jacob Shaffelburg and Ali Ahmed are also nursing hamstring issues.

Predicted Lineup: Maxime Crepeau, Richie Laryea, Derek Cornelius, Luc de Fougerolles, Alistair Johnston, Ismael Kone, Stephen Eustaquio, Tajon Buchanan, Jonathan David, Cyle Larin.

Bosnia and Herzegovina

For what seems like the millionth time, Bosnia will be led into battle by forward Edin Dzeko, a veteran of many battles and a winner of many medals. But also a man of 41 now. The fact that he’s still probably their best player is impressive for him but not so much for the team. Bosnia snuck in after two penalty shoot-out wins in the qualification play-offs. And they might do it again for this World Cup knockout stage considering the strength (or lack thereof) in Group B.

Team news: Bosnia star striker Haris Tabakovic recently fractured his ankle, but he’s in Toronto with the team, which means he has a chance to play. He is currently still working separately with physios, however.

Predicted Lineup: Nikola Vasilj, Tarik Muharemovic, Sead Kolasinac, Nikola Katic, Amar Dedic, Dzenis Burnis, Benjamin Tahirovic, Ivan Sunjic, Esmir Bajraktarevic, Edin Dzeko, Ermedin Demirovic

Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina Stats and Trends

  • Head-to-Head: This World Cup 2026 opening match of Group B is the first ever time that Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina have played against each other in an organized game of soccer.
  • Canada Trend: Canada went undefeated in regular time at the Gold Cup last year.
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina Trend: 9 of their last 11 matches have seen both teams score.
  • Jonathan David Trend: Jonathan David has scored in 3 of his last 5 competitive games for Canada.

Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina Prediction

Unfortunately for both these teams, they’re going to be without arguably their top goal threats for this opening Group B match. Canada manager Jesse Marsch says his Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies will play in the World Cup.. but not against Bosnia. On the flip side, Bosnia’s top striker Haris Tabakovic fractured his ankle recently and is still working separately from the team.

But despite that, we still think this should be a fun, relatively high-scoring game where both teams find the back of the net. In nine of Bosnia’s last 11 games, both sides have scored.

If we had to pick a team to win, it would be Canada. They have the better and younger squad, and they have the home field advantage. But we think the goals will be where the better value lies.

Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina - The Ultimate Bet

Both Teams To Score → Yes (+105)

Canada has a lot of athleticism and talent at the top of the pitch, but they’re susceptible to a counter attack, which Bosnia has been happy to oblige with in recent upset victories on their way to World Cup qualification.

Both teams have scored in Bosnia’s last six straight competitive matches, including 1-1 games against Italy and Wales (both of which they won in penalty shootouts). Jonathan David and Cyle Larin will cause them problems, and Bosnia will be able to catch Canada sleeping on the counter.
