The 2026 World Cup officially begins on Thursday, with Mexico vs South Africa to open the tournament, followed by an enticing clash between South Korea and Czechia.

Below, we'll provide World Cup 2026 betting tips for both fixtures.

Top Picks for World Cup Day 1 | June 11

Mexico vs. South Africa

Only Mexico to Score (-112)

Mexico comes into this clash in great form, winning three straight matches. The home advantage in Mexico City undoubtedly plays in their favor, and El Tri's attacking options -- especially Raul Jimenez -- should be able to take advantage of an inexperienced South Africa backline. They're also making their first World Cup appearance in 16 years, and Mexico has kept clean sheets in two of their last three friendlies against solid opponents, Australia and Ghana. Jimenez is one of the all-time leading goal-scorers for the national team, while keeper Guillermo Ochoa is in net for one final World Cup, and he's always clutch for El Tri.

🗸 Long Shot: Raul Jimenez anytime goal (+140)
🗸 Extra Tip: Guillermo Ochoa Over 2.5 saves (+275)

South Korea vs. Czechia

Both Teams to Score (-105)

While these are two very different teams, I expect goals. South Korea's speed and technical abilities should create issues for Czechia, and they've found the back of the net in three of their last five games, including in back-to-back games recently. As for the Czechs, they're more of a physical, gritty side, but the strength they possess -- and form -- will make things difficult for South Korea. They've also hit the back of the net in six consecutive outings, dating back to October of last year. Both of these teams have attacking threats that are more than capable of producing a moment or two of brilliance. Patrik Schick is always clinical for his country, while Heung-Min Son often turns up when playing for the national team as well.

🗸 Long Shot: Patrik Schick anytime goal (+185)
🗸 Extra Tip: Heung-Min Son Over 1.5 SOG (+200)
