2026 World Cup Odds - Outright Winner
| Team | Odds |
| Spain | +448 |
| France | +498 |
| England | +598 |
| Brazil | +808 |
| Argentina | +818 |
| Portugal | +897 |
| Germany | +1396 |
| Netherlands | +2010 |
| Norway | +2569 |
Spain has +448 at soccer betting sportsbooks. France, who have been finalists in each of the last two editions and won it all in 2018, come in at +498. England sits at +598, while South American giants Brazil and Argentina are fourth and fifth, respectively.
Spain (+448)
Spain is a well-oiled machine, with young talent all over the pitch. Lamine Yamal is the headliner. The Barcelona superstar is already one of the best players in the world at just 18 years of age. La Roja are the reigning European Championship winners, beating England in the final two years ago. However, despite their impressive World Cup odds, they’ve had little success on the global stage since lifting the trophy in South Africa in 2010. Spain hasn’t made it past the Round of 16 in each of the last three tournaments. Nevertheless, Luis de la Fuente’s men are in the midst of a 31-match unbeaten run, and with fantastic chemistry and elite talent, they must be considered as a contender for the title.
France (+498)
On paper, France may be the most talented team in this World Cup. We’re talking names like Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, and Michael Olise, among others. Didier Deschamps has a plethora of options to choose from all over the field, and the former France player has certainly had his success at the helm. France is a back-to-back finalist, winning in 2018 in Russia before a heartbreaking defeat on penalties to Argentina four years ago. This is Deschamps’ final tournament before handing the reins to Zinedine Zidane, and his squad has every opportunity to send him off as a winner.
England (+598)
The Three Lions always have a strong squad at the World Cup, but they haven’t lifted the grand prize since 1966. In fact, England has only progressed past the quarterfinals twice since then, losing in the semifinals in the 2018 edition. Thomas Tuchel will be hoping to take this side somewhere they haven’t been in 60 years, but it remains to be seen if the Three Lions can put it all together when it matters most. While they have a real chance at a deep run, group play won’t be easy, where England plays Croatia, Panama, and Ghana.
Brazil (+808)
It’s a new era in Brazilian football as Carlo Ancelotti heads into his first major tournament in charge of Selecao. He made some controversial decisions with the squad, for example, choosing Neymar over in-form Joao Pedro. Regardless, Brazil is brimful of quality, and they could be the best South American side in this World Cup, given Argentina’s health issues.
Argentina, Portugal Ones to Watch
The defending champions cannot be counted out, but Lionel Messi’s health is a question mark, while several others are nursing injuries, such as Nahuel Molina, Cristian Romero, and keeper Emiliano Martinez. As for Portugal, I see them as a potential dark horse to win it all. PSG's engine room, which just led the club to European glory, is Portuguese, with Vitinha and Joao Neves, who are brilliant in the middle of the park. Bruno Fernandes also just had a wonderful season with Manchester United, while the likes of Rafael Leao and Cristiano Ronaldo are more than capable of producing the goods in front of goal.
2026 World Cup Picks
It truly feels like a toss-up as to who will win it all in New Jersey on July 19. While many favorites will likely be in the mix in the latter stages of the knockout rounds, there are always surprises, too. That being said, I do firmly believe Spain have what it takes to go all the way, while Portugal offers value at +897 as a side with a gritty, hard-working midfield that can make a real difference in the World Cup.
