Head-to-head info

Juventus and Man City have met six times before in Europe. They’ve only locked horns twice in recent years, with the Old Lady winning both games in the 2015-16 group stages. The hosts are actually unbeaten in five matches against the Sky Blues, although several of those came many, many years ago.

Juventus looking for consistency

While Juve hasn’t been losing as much as City, they haven’t been exactly great, either. The Old Lady are in sixth place in the Serie A standings and are yet to lose a domestic game, but Juventus has drawn nine times this term to go along with six victories. In the Champions League, the club got off to a solid start with two wins before losing to Stuttgart and tying both Lille and Aston Villa.

Currently in 19th in the expanded UCL table, Juve desperately needs a victory here with just three games left in the group stages of the competition. The Old Lady came out flat on Saturday versus Bologna and fell behind two goals by the 52nd minute. Thankfully, Teun Koopmeiners and Samuel Mbangula saved the day to rescue a point, with Mbangula bagging the equalizer in injury time.

That’s now seven draws in the last nine games across all competitions for Thiago Motta’s men. A turn in form could quickly propel them up the Serie A table, sitting only seven points behind first-place Atalanta. They have been rather solid at the back, conceding just 10 times in league action and only five times in the Champions League. Juventus is a very slim underdog for Wednesday’s affair at soccer betting sites.

Can City finally turn it around?

Yes, Pep Guardiola just signed a new deal to stay at the Etihad until 2026, but it came at quite a tough time. City is playing their worst football in years, losing six of their last nine games across all competitions with just one win during that span against Nottingham Forest. Although the Sky Blues do have their fair share of injuries at the moment, there’s no excuse for such a top-notch club to be producing such poor results.

In the Champions League, City is also in serious need of a victory. They’ve gone just 2-2-1, starting well before getting smacked by Sporting and blowing a three-goal lead to Feyenoord in 14 minutes on matchday five in late November. Over the weekend, Guardiola’s group had to play from behind against Palace, with Erling Haaland and Royce Lewis producing the goods in a 2-2 draw.

Lewis was handed a second yellow late in the second half but City managed to hold on for a point at Selhurst Park. Unfortunately, the Sky Blues are winless in their last five against Juventus, which is their joint-longest versus any opponent in UEFA competition. That being said, it’s the first time the EPL giants will face the Old Lady since Guardiola took over. A lot has changed since. City is a +100 favorite at Sports Interaction.

Juventus vs Man City injury news

Juve got two key players back on Saturday in Dusan Vlahovic and Nicolo Savona, but they’re still dealing with other injuries. Nico Gonzalez, Weston McKennie, Douglas Luiz, Bremer, and Juan Cabal remain out. Andrea Cambiaso is questionable as well.

City’s treatment room is also packed. Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji, John Stones, and Mateo Kovacic are on the shelf, while Rodri and Oscar Bobb are long-term absentees. Phil Foden could return after missing the Palace game due to sickness.
