The Red Devils are enjoying an eight-game unbeaten run against Leeds United dating back to 2011. However, the reverse fixture this term at Elland Road ended 1-1, their first meeting in nearly three years.
Manchester United vs Leeds Analysis
Man United have been underwhelming, to say the least, over the last few seasons. Despite multiple managerial changes, consistency has remained elusive, preventing them from truly competing for Champions League spots or the EPL title. While winning the Premier League is out of the question this season, they’ve found their form under Michael Carrick. The former Red Devil player took over for Ruben Amorim earlier this year and has thrived at the helm.
The club is sitting in fourth place with 55 points and a 15-10-6 record. They’ve only lost once in the Premier League since 2026 began, and that was against Newcastle just before the international break. Since the turn of the year, United has notched several impressive victories as well, beating Arsenal, Manchester City, and Aston Villa, who are right below them in the table. This is the Red Devils’ first match since the break, which means they will be very fresh.
Leeds is just barely hovering above the relegation zone right now. The club is in 15th spot, compiling 33 points. To put that into perspective, Tottenham is currently in 18th with 30 points. On a more positive note, Daniel Farke’s men are unbeaten across their last four games across all competitions. Before the FA Cup win over West Ham, Leeds secured draws with Brentford and Crystal Palace in the Premier League, while also knocking out Norwich City in the FA Cup.
In fact, Leeds are through to the semifinals of England’s premier cup competition, and they’re set to lock horns with Chelsea, with a spot in the final on the line. While that’s a huge feather in the cap, staying in the top flight is surely the No. 1 focus. Thankfully, Leeds’ remaining Premier League schedule isn’t too difficult, with Wolves, Bournemouth, and Burnley up next. The Cherries are always a tough task, but the other two games are very, very winnable.
Manchester United vs Leeds Injury News
United are dealing with a few key absences, as Matthijs de Ligt (back), Patrick Dorgu (hamstring), and Harry Maguire (suspension) are all unavailable. However, there is a boost with Lisandro Martinez returning from a calf issue and expected to start. Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko are both fit despite recent international withdrawals, while Amad Diallo could feature off the bench.
Leeds will be without Anton Stach (ankle), Joe Rodon (ankle), and Daniel James (groin) for the trip to Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Noah Okafor (back), Jaka Bijol (groin), and Gabriel Gudmundsson (groin) are all doubtful and will need late fitness tests before kickoff.
Manchester United vs Leeds Picks
The Red Devils always seem to turn it up a notch at home, compiling an impressive 10-3-2 record in league play this term at Old Trafford. Leeds, meanwhile, is an atrocious 1-7-7 on the road. I’ll take Manchester United to return from the break with a bang.
