Mavericks vs. Clippers Game 6 Betting Preview, Odds, How To Watch

With as many as six future Hall of Famers participating in this series, one would expect a little bit more consistency, but the only one that has shown any so far is Kyrie Irving. The other five have been very up and down, basically unpredictable, which is not great for us bettors. However, that unpredictability has almost become predictable itself, which we will hone in on in our Game 6 betting preview.

Highlights

  • The first 4 games of the series were decided by an average of about 7.5 points.
  • Luka Doncic, Paul George, and James Harden have all put up epic performances and stinkers too.
  • The point spread for Game 6 seems like an overreaction to Game 5.

When to Watch and How to Watch Mavericks vs. Clippers Game 6

The penultimate game of the Western Conference’s No. 4 vs. No. 5 first round matchup, the crucial Game 6, takes place at Dallas’ American Airlines Center on Friday, May 3 at 9:30PM. Canadian fans can watch the game on various TSN channels while American viewers will take in an ESPN broadcast of the matchup.

Mavericks vs. Clippers Game 6 Point Spread Betting Preview

The first four games of this series were relatively close, as each quarter saw the teams come within at least 11 points of each other. That’s not how it went down in Game 5, as the Mavericks dominated from minute one in a 34-point victory.

Luka Doncic had his best game of the series on Wednesday, putting up 35 points on efficient shooting. L.A.’s stars, meanwhile, looked completely out of sorts, as Paul George and James Harden combined to go just 6-for-25 from the field. Yikes.

While many view George and Harden as erratic playoff performers, that erratic nature could come in handy when predicting this one, as stars are known to bounce back quickly from ugly performances, just as Doncic did after putting up a dud in Game 4.

George has only shot below 40 percent in back-to-back games in a playoff series four times since 2018, and Harden has only done it five times since 2017. That means that both should be in line for big bounce back games in the Big D, especially with Kawhi Leonard expected to miss his third straight game.

What’s encouraging for Tyronn Lue and the rest of the Clippers is that despite the struggles of their stars in Game 5, the supporting cast still played pretty well, with Ivica Zubac, Terrence Mann, and Norman Powell all scoring in double-digits in the blowout loss.

This series has been the most back-and-forth of the first round of this year’s playoffs, and even if the Clippers don’t win outright, there’s no way they don’t at least cover what feels like a bit of a disrespectful +7.5 point spread being offered by Ontario sportsbooks.

Here are a few more NBA betting trends to consider:

  • Dallas was the second-best ATS team in the NBA this season, with a 51-36 record
  • The Mavericks are 3-4 ATS in their last seven games
  • The Clippers are 6-9 ATS as a road underdog this season
  • The Mavericks were just 22-21 ATS as the home team this year
  • L.A. is 8-14 ATS as an underdog so far this year
  • Dallas has gone 36-10 ATS as the favorite so far in this campaign

Center Ivica Zubac has been a pleasant surprise for coach Tyronn Lue in this series, amassing at least 13 points in all five games. He also scored 14+ in five of the final eight games of the regular season, as he and point guard James Harden have begun to show some real chemistry in the pick and roll. We like the big fella to hit the over on his 13.5 points prop at -128 odds.

We also like his alley-oop partner, Harden, to have a big bounce back game. He scored 21+ in each of the first four games of this series, and a player of his caliber is not usually down for long. Last time he took double-digit field goals and shot a percentage as bad as he did in Game 5 (17 percent), it was when he went 0-for-10 in an early March game. He responded by going 9-for-16 for 29 points in the very next contest. Take Beardo to hit the over on his 19.5 points prop at -125 odds.
