The 2026 Grand Slam season officially kicks off on January 12, as the Australian Open begins in Melbourne. This is one of the most exciting Majors of the lot, and it’s also one of the most historic. Tennis seems to be ruled right now by Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, with each of them winning two Slams apiece last year. But Sinner heads into this event as the clear favorite to lift the grand prize after beating Alexander Zverev in the final in 2025. Read below for the 2026 Australian Open picks.

Highlights

  • Jannik Sinner is the clear-cut favorite to win the 2026 Australian Open
  • Carlos Alcaraz isn’t far behind in the latest odds

2026 Men’s Australian Open Odds

PlayerOdds
Jannik Sinner-108
Carlos Alcaraz+154
Novak Djokovic+1006
Alexander Zverev+1727
Daniil Medvedev+2397
Taylor Fritz+3718
Felix Auger-Aliassime+3953

Sinner is a heavy frontrunner with -108 odds to win the Aussie Open at tennis betting sites. Alcaraz isn’t too far behind at +154, but after that, the odds drop off significantly. Novak Djokovic, a legend Down Under, has steep odds of +1006 to leave Melbourne with a trophy. After that, Zverev sits at +1727. The gap is large between the top two and the rest of the field.

Jannik Sinner (-108)

Sinner has established himself as one of the best players in the world over the last few years, but the ‘25 was undoubtedly the Italian’s coming out party. Sinner compiled a stellar 58-6 record last year, and that included six titles, and nearly $20 million in prize money. The youngster was in the final of every Grand Slam, also winning Wimbledon, where he beat his arch nemesis, Alcaraz. Sinner also lost in the French Open and US Open finals – both absolute marathons against the Spaniard. Sinner is currently ranked No. 2 in the world, and he’s actually the back-to-back Aussie Open champ, also winning the tournament in 2024.

Carlos Alcaraz (+154)

Alcaraz is trying his very best to become the top dog on the ATP Tour, but his rivalry with Sinner continues to take center stage in almost every tournament. Alcaraz went 71-9 last season, earning over $21 million in prize money, and capturing eight titles. He added the French Open and US Open to his trophy case, his second titles at each event already. However, he’s evidently struggled to go deep into Aussie Open, failing to make it past the quarterfinals in his prestigious career. In fact, he’s only made it to the last eight twice. Alcaraz also just part ways with long-time coach Juan Carlos Ferrero, and it remains to be seen who will guide him next. Nevertheless, Alcaraz is No. 1 on the Tour heading into ‘26, and he’s always a threat to go all the way.

Novak Djokovic (+1006)

Djokovic will probably go down as the best tennis player ever. After all, he’s won a record 24 Grand Slams. However, it feels highly unlikely he’ll make that 25 before retirement. Alcaraz and Sinner are simply too good, and Nole isn’t exactly getting any younger. He didn’t take home a single Major title last year. But, the Serbian did make it to the semifinals of each Grand Slam, showing he still can compete at a high level with the best. If there were one Major where Djokovic was able to pull off the unthinkable, it would be the Aussie Open. After all, he’s won the event a record 10 times, and the Melbourne crowd absolutely loves him.

Alexander Zverev (+1727)

After dealing with injury problems and off-court issues, Zverev has fought his way back onto the scene over the last couple of seasons. Although he’s yet to win a Grand Slam, the German has gotten close. He made the US Open final in ‘24 and the Australian Open final in ‘25, losing to Sinner, as previously mentioned. Zverev was 57-25 last season, and currently ranks No. 3 in the world behind Sinner and Alcaraz. Aside from the Finals appearance a year ago, Zverev has also made the semifinals twice in Melbourne.

2026 Australian Open Picks

Sinner and Alcaraz are truly in a league of their own. While Djokovic has the most realistic chance in Australia, I still believe one of these two young superstars will lift the ultimate prize. That being said, it makes most sense splash a bit of cash on each of them for this month’s tournament.
