Sunday Night Baseball will have a must-watch matchup as the New York Mets visit the Philadelphia Phillies for the rubber match of a three-game set. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM EDT. Both games so far have been blowouts, with each team winning one. The Mets took home the victory on Saturday by a score of 11-4 as they tagged rookie Mick Abel for four earned runs in the first three innings. It will be David Peterson vs Jesus Luzardo in the finale, which should be a very good pitching duel. Read below for the Mets vs Phillies betting picks.

Mets vs Phillies Analysis
New York broke the bank to sign Juan Soto in the offseason to a record-breaking deal and while he got off to a slow start, it appears he’s finally starting to figure it out. Soto was 4 for 5 on Saturday evening with two homers and four RBIs. The Dominican is still hitting just .246, but he’s starting to look like his normal self. Regardless of his struggles at times, the Mets own a respectable 46-31 record and just ended a seven-game losing streak with this latest victory. NY’s bats exploded, banging out 15 hits and slugging seven homers off Philly pitching.
Peterson will get the call on Sunday, and he’s been very solid for the Mets. In 14 starts, the lefty has a 5-2 record and 2.60 ERA, striking out 74 in 86.2 innings of work while walking 27. Although he’s allowed three earned runs in two of his last three outings, Peterson kept the Phillies at bay back in April, surrendering two earned runs across 5.1 frames. His ERA sits at 3.08 on the road, but also lowers to 2.40 in night games.
The Phillies are now tied with the Mets in first place in the division after Saturday’s defeat, with an identical record. This is a very fundamentally sound ball club on both sides of the ball, ranking sixth in runs scored, second in hits, third in team average, and ninth in slugging. When it comes to pitching, they have a 3.83 team ERA. Zack Wheeler and Cristopher Sanchez have led the way and have kept the rotation afloat despite Aaron Nola’s struggles. Bryce Harper remains sidelined with an injury for the Phils.
Luzardo will take the hill in the finale. He got off to a fantastic start in April, posting a 1.44 ERA through his first five starts, but it’s been downhill ever since. The southpaw has an 8.78 ERA in three June appearances and most recently got tagged for four runs by the Miami Marlins. However, he tends to pitch well at night, posting a 2.93 ERA in seven starts. Since he was with the Fish before, Luzardo has lots of experience against the Mets, holding their lineup to a .259 average across 108 at-bats.
Mets vs Phillies Picks
Peterson is very reliable, and he’s had success against the Phils in the past. Luzardo, meanwhile, is a mess right now, and the Mets just swung the bats extremely well. I’m predicting them to carry that momentum into Sunday and get to Luzardo early. Take New York to win the series finale and move into first in the division.
