We have a very intriguing three-game series on the schedule beginning on Friday, July 25 when the Philadelphia Phillies visit the New York Yankees in the Bronx. The first pitch for the opener is scheduled for 7:05 PM ET. Philly just took two out of three from the Boston Red Sox and will be looking to keep it rolling against another AL East ball club. As for the Yankees, they dropped two of three to the Toronto Blue Jays, falling even further behind in the division. This is another crucial series for Aaron Judge and Co. Keep reading for the Phillies vs Yankees betting picks.

Phillies vs Yankees Odds

The Yankees head into the series opener as a heavy -155 favorite. The Phils return as a +130 underdog at MLB betting sites. New York has won four in a row against Philadelphia dating back to 2023.

Phillies vs Yankees Analysis

Philadelphia has let their foot off the gas pedal in recent weeks and as a result, have lost top spot in the National League East. Rob Thomson’s squad is now a half-game behind the New York Mets in second. But, it’s a very small margin, and they still have a very realistic chance of winning the division. The series against Boston was certainly a step in the right direction after previously dropping back-to-back series against the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Angels. The Phillies were even competitive in the finale versus the Red Sox, losing 9-8 on Wednesday.

Taking the hill on Friday in the Bronx will be Taijuan Walker. The veteran has pitched out of the bullpen and in the rotation this year. No matter the role, he’s been relatively effective. Walker owns a 3.75 ERA and 3-5 record in 21 appearances, including 10 starts. He allowed three earned to the Angels last time out but prior to that, the righty gave up only one earned run across his previous two outings. In his career, Walker has a 4.47 ERA against the Yankees in nine starts.

If the Yankees’ end up losing the AL East title, their mistakes will be a big reason for it. Yes, the Blue Jays are playing phenomenal baseball at the moment, but New York’s defensive woes lost them the series versus Toronto. The Bronx Bombers need to clean it up in a hurry and could use some reinforcements at the trade deadline. They won’t want to waste Judge’s historic campaign where he’s well on his way to another MVP award. NY has a 56-46 record and sits four games being the Jays. Friday marks the beginning of a seven-game homestand.

Aaron Boone hands Will Warren the ball here. The 26-year-old has struck out 117 in just 99 innings of work but he’s been hit around at times, posting a 4.91 ERA in 21 starts. Warren does pitch a mile better at home though, collecting a 3.00 ERA. On the road, his ERA is 7.20. Warren allowed five earned in Atlanta last weekend but before that, threw 5.1 innings of two-run baseball against the Chicago Cubs in the Bronx.

Phillies vs Yankees Picks

The Yankees beat themselves in the finale in Toronto on Wednesday. That was certainly a wake-up call, and I do believe you’ll see them come out and bounce back on Friday at home, where they have a 30-19 record. The Phils meanwhile are just 25-25 on the road. Take the Bronx Bombers.
