Washington enters Sunday off its largest margin of victory this season, a 27-10 win over Philadelphia that snapped their three game winless streak. The Rams have won two straight, including a 24-9 handling of the Chargers last week, and travel east as 5.5-point favourites in this NFL picks Week 9 matchup.
Washington Commanders vs Los Angeles Rams Best Bet
Los Angeles Rams -5.5: -112
I'm backing the Rams to cover 5.5 points in this NFC matchup. Los Angeles controlled the line of scrimmage in both of its last two wins, and I think the market is undervaluing just how much the Commanders' passing game loses with star WR Terry McLaurin gone for good. The Rams have solid balance on offense and a good defense that has only given up a total of 30 points in the last two games. Matthew Stafford and company facing a Commanders’ defense that only ranks 26th in the league in points allowed is why I like the Rams to win and cover.
Kyren Williams Anytime Touchdown Scorer: -152
Kyren Williams has scored a rushing TD in four of the last five games and he will punch one in facing the Commanders. The Washington run defense does rank a respectable 12th but Stafford will move the ball down the field often and give Williams chances to run one in near the goal line.

Washington Commanders vs Los Angeles Rams Analysis
The shorthanded Washington side
Jayden Daniels played well in the last game, but Washington's receiver room now leans on Stefon Diggs and rookie Antonio Williams with McLaurin gone. Washington's defence has allowed 26 ppg, 26th in the league, and they have issues against the pass, which is not good with Stafford coming to town and he has the second most passing yards in the league. That leaky unit against a Rams offence that has totaled 59 points in the last two games is not good for the home team.
The surging Los Angeles side
Matthew Stafford and the Rams have scored 35 and 24 points in their last two wins, lifting Los Angeles to 24.3 ppg, 10th in the league. Kyren Williams has anchored this offence on the ground in both games and keeps opponents from solely focusing on Stafford. The Rams' defence ranks 12th at 21 ppg allowed, built around Byron Young and Aaron Donald.
Washington Commanders vs Los Angeles Rams Prediction
The de-vigged market has Los Angeles as a 68% favourite on the moneyline, and my own number isn't far off at 70%, which tells me the market has priced the winner correctly. Where I diverge is the margin. The Commanders' offence still ranks 17th at 22.7 ppg, but the defence is a major issue, which is why LA is the pick to win and cover.

My Exact Score Prediction: Los Angeles Rams 27 Washington Commanders 16
I'm calling for a 27-16 Los Angeles win. The Rams already own a plus-26 point differential this season against the Commanders' minus-23, and the Rams are 2-1 on the road and have won two in a row. Kyren Williams controls enough of the clock to limit the Commanders' possessions, and Washington will struggle to put up points. That combined 43 points comes in under the 47.5 total, and an 11-point margin clears the 5.5 spread with room to spare.
