New Orleans is 0-3 at the Caesars Superdome this season, and Cleveland arrives off a lopsided road loss in Pittsburgh looking to end a run of close finishes on a better note. The Browns have gone 5-1 in one-score games this year, a trend that matters against a Saints team still finding its footing for a defnece that ranks 29th in the league giving up an average of 27.7 ppg. Those two patterns collide for this week's NFL picks Week 9 line in the Big Easy.

New Orleans Saints vs Cleveland Browns Best Bet

Cleveland Browns +1.5: -111

I'm backing Cleveland to cover the short spread here. New Orleans' defence ranks 29th in the league at 27.7 ppg allowed, and Cleveland's defence, 13th at 21.6 ppg allowed and 20.3 ppg over its last three games, gives the Browns a real shot to keep this tight even on the road against a Saints offence that is 14th in scoring. I think the market is overrating New Orleans simply because of the spread, while undervaluing a Browns team that has played is close for most of the season.

New Orleans Saints vs Cleveland Browns Analysis

The winless-at-home Saints side

New Orleans is 2-5 overall and 0-3 at home, with home losses to Las Vegas, Atlanta and Minnesota by a combined 39 points. Tyler Shough has the Saints offence 14th in the league at 23.1 ppg. New Orleans enters off a Week 8 bye that followed a 16-10 neutral-site loss to Pittsburgh in Paris. The Browns lead the all-time series 13-7, and the Saints have actually won the last three meetings, including a 35-14 result in 2024, but these teams are much different.

The surprising Browns side

Cleveland sits 5-3 and is in the heat of the AFC North race. Deshaun Watson has started every game since beating out Shedeur Sanders for the job in August and has thrown for 1,806 yards, leading an offence that still ranks 29th in scoring at 17.4 ppg. The defence has held three of its last four opponents under 25 points, and they need their D to show up since they have had issues scoring the pill. That was especially the case in their last game in a 27-6 loss to the Steelers.

New Orleans Saints vs Cleveland Browns Prediction

The de-vigged line off Bet365's moneyline gives New Orleans a 52% implied probability and Cleveland 48%, a thin gap for a 1.5-point spread. I have this closer to 54% for Cleveland, because New Orleans' home record with no wins and a defense that has issues is a tough back against an improved Browns team.

My Exact Score Prediction: Cleveland Browns 20 New Orleans Saints 17

I'm calling this one Cleveland, 20-17. New Orleans gets extra rest off its Week 8 bye, but they have not put together many good games while the Browns have despite the bad loss last week I expect Cleveland to play good D and be efficient on offence, which is why they are the pick to cover in a lower-scoring game where the Under is the pick.
