Carolina Panthers vs Denver Broncos Best Odds

Denver arrives in Charlotte on one of the best runs in the NFL, winners of four in a row and six of its last seven games, fresh off a statement road win over Kansas City. Carolina has lost back-to-back games by a combine score of 70-32, and the Panthers' defence has been the main culprit. That split drives this week's NFL picks for this non-conference affair.

Carolina Panthers vs Denver Broncos Best Bet

Denver Broncos -3.0: -102

I'm backing Denver Broncos -3.0 at Sports Interaction. Denver's defence ranks 11th in the league at 20.6 ppg allowed for the season, while Carolina's offence has cooled to 19 ppg over its last three games after a hot start. I think the market is still pricing this off Carolina's early-season form rather than that recent fade, and that gap is the real story here. Denver's offence, modest by season-long standards, still found a way to beat a good Kansas City defence last week and they will remain hot in the south and win and cover against the Panthers.

Carolina Panthers vs Denver Broncos Analysis

The Charlotte side

Bryce Young has played through a knee injury without missing a start, and played well in the beginning of the season but not so much as of late with three INTs and only two TDs in the last two games. Carolina's defence ranks 28th in the league at 27.6 ppg and was not terrible in the last game in a 27-19 loss to Green Bay. Facing a solid Denver defence I do not see Carolina snapping out of their offensive slump.

The Denver side

Bo Nix guides the Denver offence, which ranks 22nd in scoring, and while he has not put up big numbers he is limiting mistakes and has not been picked off in the last five games. He played well in the big 28-24 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the last game. The Broncos have scored 25 ppg over their last three games, an uptick from their 21.5 ppg season rate, and their defence has tightened even further, down to 18 ppg allowed over that same stretch while holding Seattle, Arizona and Kansas City all under 25 points. Their defence  is why I like Denver to cover on the road.

Carolina Panthers vs Denver Broncos Prediction

The moneyline, Denver -150 and Carolina +125 at Sports Interaction, implies a de-vigged win probability of 57% for Denver against 43% for Carolina. I put Denver's number closer to 62%, because I think the market still leans on Carolina's productive early season more than its form over the last two games. Take the Broncos to win and cover.

My Exact Score Prediction: Denver Broncos 27 Carolina Panthers 16

I'm calling it Broncos 27, Panthers 16. Denver's offensive line has given Nix more time to work over the last three weeks, and that shows up against a Carolina defence that ranks near the bottom of the league. Carolina's back-to-back losses both came from big early deficits, making it hard to trust Young operating from behind again. That combined 43 points sits just under the 44-point total, consistent with Denver’s solid play on D as of late and the struggling Carolina offence of the last two games. The 11-point margin easily clears Denver's -3.0 spread.
