Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cleveland Browns Best Odds

Odds courtesy of Bet365, correct at time of writing and subject to change.

The Steelers enter Sunday at 5-2 after grinding out a 16-10 win over New Orleans in their last game, a result covered in last week's Steelers tip. Cleveland arrives at the same 5-2 mark, and the two teams already met in Week 4, when the Browns won 27-24 in Cleveland. These NFL prediction odds make Pittsburgh a clear home favourite for the rematch, but I think that line undersells how competitive the Browns have been this season. .

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cleveland Browns Best Bet

Cleveland Browns +3.5: -115

My call is Cleveland Browns +3.5. I think the market is overrating a Pittsburgh three-game winning streak built against Indianapolis, Tampa Bay and New Orleans, and underrating a Cleveland team that already won this exact matchup at home five weeks ago. DeSean Watson has given the Browns a steadier week-to-week QB than Pittsburgh's offense, which has needed fourth-quarter stops to close out three straight one-score games. The Steelers' defence has tightened up, holding its last three opponents to 51 combined points, but the Browns' own defence has matched that trend, giving up 51 points in their last three games. A 3.5-point home favourite in a rivalry rematch the underdog already won once is not a bet I want to lay, which is why I am backing the Browns. .

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cleveland Browns Analysis

The Pittsburgh side

Aaron Rodgers has quarterbacked a Pittsburgh offence averaging 21.9 ppg over seven games, backed by a defence that has not allowed more than 22 points in three straight wins. Jaylen Warren is the early-down workhorse for an offence that will face a Cleveland defence that is allowing 20.9 ppg, a closer matchup than a 3.5-point spread implies. Pittsburgh's three-game win streak has come against teams that have six wins combined, so not powerhouses to say the least.

The Cleveland side

Deshaun Watson is Cleveland's starting quarterback and while pretty steady this season the team still only ranks 28th in scoring.  Quinshon Judkins' ground game has been pretty good and he is coming off a season-high 96 rushing yards in the 27-24 win over the Tennessee Titans in their last game. The interior defense is a little banged up but that unit has been solid on the season. The Browns are no longer a laughingstock and have won four of their last five games.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cleveland Browns Prediction

I think the market is leaning too hard on Pittsburgh's recent three-game run and not enough on the fact Cleveland has already beaten them this season. A 58% to 42% split feels closer to fair than the market's de-vigged 63% to 37%, and that gap is enough for me to back the points for the underdog Browns in what will be another close game between these two division rivals.

My Exact Score Prediction: Pittsburgh Steelers 23-20 Cleveland Browns

I'm backing a 23-20 final, with Pittsburgh winning outright but failing to cover the 3.5-point spread. Cleveland's defence has allowed more than 24 points only twice all season, and I don't expect that to change against a Pittsburgh offence averaging under 22 ppg. The two teams' first meeting went to a one-score margin, and I expect the rematch to land there again. That score sits over the 39.5 total, so back the over here.
