Tennessee Titans vs Cleveland Browns: NFL Predictions, Odds & Picks | Week 7

Tennessee is 1-5 with the NFL's 31st-ranked offence, while Cleveland is 4-2 and tied with two other teams atop the AFC North after a defensive-minded 13-10 win over Baltimore last week. The Titans have struggled to score and the Browns have a solid defence, and that gap is the main storyline behind this Week 7 NFL prediction.

Cleveland Browns -1.5: -112

I'm backing Cleveland to cover this small number on the road. The Browns have been the sturdier side on defence all season, and they're facing a Titans offence that has already turned the ball over eight times. Tennessee is 0-3 at home, and its offensive line has to deal with a Browns front that already has 19 sacks. I think the market has this closer than it should be, mostly because Cleveland is the road team, and I'm very comfortable laying the extra point and a half.

The Tennessee side

Cam Ward has started every game for Tennessee, completing 61.6% of his throws, but the offence is averaging just 14 ppg. Tony Pollard remains the engine of the run game with 349 yards on 87 carries, and I don't think he can carry enough of the load even though the weakness of the Jets defence is against the run. Last week's 26-20 win at Indianapolis, the Titans' first of the season, came on the road, and the three home losses this year have come by a combined 40 points. 

The Cleveland side

Deshaun Watson has started all six games for Cleveland, throwing for 1,174 yards with seven touchdowns against only two interceptions. Denzel Boston has emerged as Watson's top target by yardage, 345 yards and three touchdowns on 17 catches. Quinshon Judkins has been dealing with an ankle issue through October and listed as questionable and is averaging just 3.0 yards a carry on the season.Mason Graham, not Myles Garrett, actually leads this defence with 4.0 sacks, and that interior pressure is a big reason Cleveland ranks tied for fifth in the league in points allowed.

De-vigging Cleveland's -128 moneyline against Tennessee's +107 puts the market at roughly 54% Cleveland, 46% Tennessee. My own number sits closer to 58%-42% for the Browns: Tennessee's offence is the clearest weakness on the field this week, and Cleveland's defence has been the steadier unit, more of an edge than these NFL prediction odds are pricing in.Just giving 1.5 points I am backing the Browns here.

I'm calling this one 23-17 for Cleveland. It is pretty easy to see why the Browns are the pick with their solid defense facing a Tennessee defense that ranks 31st in scoring. The Browns' defensive front gets enough pressure to force a late giveaway, and that swing pushes this one a tick over the 37.5 total. My call is Cleveland to cover the short spread with the total going Over.
