Chelsea vs Bournemouth Analysis
The Blues have shown glimpses of being a title contender this term, but their dip in form has put them out of the title conversation, sitting 13 points out of first place. Enzo Maresca’s men have just one victory across their last five Premier League matches, with two defeats during that span. Leeds United smashed them 3-1 at the beginning of the month, while a draw with the Cherries followed just days later.
Chelsea looked to be on their way to an important win against Villa on Saturday at The Bridge after Joao Pedro’s first-half strike, but Ollie Watkins proceeded to score a brace in the second half to extend the Lions’ winning streak to 11 games. That loss dropped the Blues into fifth place as they now sit three points behind Liverpool for the final Champions League berth. They must find three points on Tuesday on home soil.
The Cherries have put together some impressive results in 2025-26, but consistency has also been an issue. Bournemouth is 0-3-2 in their last five outings, and to make matters worse, it appears the club is about to lose their talisman, Antoine Semenyo. The forward is rumored to be joining Manchester City in the January transfer window.
Semenyo scored the Cherries’ lone goal in the loss to Brentford, taking his total to nine tallies on the season. Scoring hasn’t been an issue for Bournemouth as they’ve netted 27 times, but their backline has looked vulnerable, conceding 33. The Cherries haven’t beaten Chelsea since December of 2019, but that victory did happen at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea vs Bournemouth Injury News
Levi Colwill, Dario Essugo, and Romeo Lavia remain sidelined for the Blues, while Marc Cucurella is questionable after sustaining a knock against Villa. As for Bournemouth, Tyler Adams is out for the foreseeable future with a knee injury. Ben Gannon-Doak, Veljko Milosavljevic, and Matai Akinmboni are unavailable, too.
Chelsea vs Bournemouth Picks
Chelsea was enjoying a four-game unbeaten run on home turf before the Villa defeat. They know how important it is to win here to keep them in the top-four hunt, and they’ve had success against Bournemouth in the past. The hosts will respond with a victory.
