Premier League Golden Boot Futures: Lock in Erling Haaland Amid Hot Start

We’re just three games into the 2024-25 Premier League campaign but there’s already a clear frontrunner to win the Golden Boot – Erling Haaland. The Manchester City star has scored seven times and has seen his odds shorten as he eyes the award for the third consecutive season. Can anyone else give Haaland a run for his money? We’ll analyze the potential contenders below.

Highlights

  • Erling Haaland is a massive Golden Boot favorite
  • The Man City star has already bagged seven goals
  • Can anyone else contend?

Erling Haaland

It’s become crystal clear that absolutely nobody can stop Erling Haaland from bagging goals at a ridiculous rate. His combination of skill, physicality, and pure finishing abilities are second to none and there’s honestly not a better goal scorer in the world. The Norwegian scored 27 goals last term compared to 36 the year before but he still took home the Golden Boot. If Haaland continues the run he’s on, surpassing 40 goals could happen. The youngster has netted two hat-tricks and as previously mentioned, already has seven goals in three appearances. His Golden Boot odds sit at a whopping -500 at Sports Interaction.

Mo Salah

Before Haaland arrived in the Premier League, Salah was the king when it came to the Golden Boot. He’s lifted the prestigious award three times – 2017-18, 2018-19, and 2021-22. Salah is the main man for Liverpool and finished with 18 goals and 10 assists in 2023-24. He’s off to an impressive start this season, bagging three and tallying three assists. It will be quite difficult for Salah to beat out Haaland, but he’s probably the most logical option if the Norwegian were to lose the award. The Egyptian has the resume. He owns the second-best Golden Boot odds at soccer betting sites.

Alexander Isak

Isak made his presence felt last season at Newcastle, exploding for 21 goals in 30 appearances. The Swede proved that he can compete with the best of the best after a couple of seasons over in Spain before his EPL move. Isak has one goal and one assist so far and probably would have to get extremely hot if he’s going to catch up to Haaland in the Golden Boot race. Isak will get all the opportunity to score goals however as one of the Magpies’ main options up top.

Heung-min Son

With Harry Kane at Bayern Munich, Son is the focal point at Tottenham. He produced the goods last term, scoring 17 and supplying 10 assists. Spurs just missed out on Champions League football but Son definitely did his part. The South Korean has two goals in three games already and shared the Golden Boot award with Salah in 2021-22, bagging 23 goals. That’s the most he’s scored in his Tottenham career.

Cole Palmer

While I don’t think Cole Palmer will win the award, he could be a potential dark horse. The Englishman broke onto the scene in ‘23-24 with Chelsea, bagging 22 goals and supplying 11 assists. Palmer then shined for the Three Lions at the Euros, scoring an equalizer in the final against Spain as a substitute. The former Manchester City academy player is only scratching the surface with his potential. The Blues will be relying on him to be a consistent figure in the final third.
