Head-to-head history

In six meetings since 2022, Liverpool has won four of them, while Nottingham Forest has two victories of their own. However, it’s important to note that Forest handed the Reds their only Premier League defeat of the 2024-25 season so far, beating them 1-0 at Anfield last September. The hosts will be feeling confident they could potentially pull off another upset.

Forest is flying high

I don’t think anyone would’ve expected Forest to be in a Champions League spot, but here we are. The club is in third place and has the same number of points as Arsenal, they just have a better goal difference. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are in top form at the moment as previously mentioned, grabbing seven straight wins. That includes a 2-0 win over Luton Town in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Garibaldis aren’t shining in any particular area – they’re just fundamentally sound on both ends of the pitch. Forest has scored just 29 goals in 20 games but has conceded a mere 19. That’s the lowest in the top flight behind only Arsenal. Chris Wood is leading the way up top as he’s bagged 12 goals, throwing it back to his Burnley days. Anthony Elanga and Morgan Gibbs-White have also combined for seven goals and seven assists.

Since beating Aston Villa in the middle of December, Forest hasn’t conceded once in five games, blanking Brentford, Tottenham, Everton, Wolves, and Luton. That being said, their backline will certainly be tested by Liverpool, who possess arguably the most electric attack in the world. The hosts own a 5-2-2 record at home this term and sit as heavy underdog at soccer betting sites for Tuesday’s affair.

Can Liverpool be stopped?

I guess you could say Liverpool has hit a hiccup in their phenomenal season, taking a point away from the United clash and losing 1-0 to Spurs in the opening leg of their Carabao Cup seminal. However, the Merseysiders have been almost flawless for most of the campaign. They’ve compiled a 14-4-1 record and haven’t lost a single game in the Champions League thus far, sitting as a favorite to win Europe’s most prized competition, too.

While Arne Slot’s backline is rock solid with just 19 goals allowed in Premier League play, you cannot speak about the Reds and not discuss Mo Salah. Even though the Egyptian has yet to sign a new deal at Anfield, he is producing the goods. Salah leads the EPL in goals and assists, netting 18 times and setting up another 13. He’s scored in four straight league appearances as well.

But, that’s not it. Cody Gakpo has six goals to his name, while Colombian Luis Diaz has hit the back of the net eight times. There is so much talent in the final third for Liverpool and it’s exactly why they’ve bagged 47 goals in just 19 matches. You better believe the Reds will have revenge on their minds as well after tasting defeat against Forest in September. They sit as a -138 favorite to win this one at Sports Interaction.
