Premier League: Tottenham vs Arsenal betting preview

Sunday brings a compelling Premier League affair between bitter rivals as Arsenal continues their title race against Tottenham. The kick-off is scheduled for 9 AM ET at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Spurs haven’t played in a couple of weeks but their last game was atrocious, losing 4-0 to Newcastle. As for the Gunners, they just hammered Chelsea 5-0 on Tuesday and sit at the top of the table, although Man City has one game in hand at the moment. This is a must-win for the visitors. The same can be said for the hosts, who are still in the mix for a Champions League spot.

North London Derby history

Arsenal vs Tottenham is actually the fourth-highest-scoring affair in Premier League history. These two sides tend to produce the goods every time they lock horns. The Gunners have won four of the last six meetings with Spurs, but the reverse fixture in 2023-24 ended level at 2-2 in September. Considering this match has major implications for both sides, it should be a thrilling watch for fans.

It’s been a very up-and-down campaign for Tottenham. They’re currently in fifth place with an 18-6-8 record, six points behind Aston Villa for the final UCL berth. However, Spurs have two games in hand, which could prove to be key if the Lions slip up and Tottenham finds their rhythm. However, recent form hasn’t been great for Ange Postecoglou’s side. They have just two victories in their last five games. Both of their defeats during that span were deflating too, getting outscored 7-0 by Fulham and Newcastle, respectively.

But due to Man City’s involvement in the FA Cup, it will be 15 days since Tottenham last played when they take the pitch on Sunday, giving them ample time to rest up and figure things out. Despite having two games more left to play than Villa, however, Spurs cannot drop any more points or else the Champions League will become a distant reality.

Facing an in-form Arsenal outfit won’t be easy, especially when Postecoglou just lost promising left-back Destiny Udogie to an injury. Unfortunately, Tottenham still has to face City and Liverpool before the campaign ends, too. The weeks ahead will be very difficult for Spurs, who are a big underdog on Sunday at soccer betting sites.

Sure, Arsenal was knocked out of the Champions League at the quarterfinal stages by Bayern Munich, but they still have a Premier League title to play for. And by the looks of it, this battle will go down to the wire. Liverpool was in it, but after losing the Merseyside Derby to Everton mid-week, it appears to be a two-man race between the Gunners and the Cityzens.

Mikel Arteta’s group is 24-5-5 and has the best goal difference in the top flight, scoring 82 times while conceding just 26. Bukayo Saka leads the way with 14 tallies and nine assists, while Kai Havertz has also bagged 11 and set up another five. Leandro Trossard, who has been brilliant in recent weeks, is up to 10 goals, too. The Gunners completely ran riot on Chelsea earlier in the week, with Trossard putting his side ahead within four minutes.

Havertz netted a brace against his former club while Ben White also had a double. Arsenal has notched back-to-back wins since losses to Villa and Bayern, also taking down Wolves 2-0 last Saturday. Their record on the road is very impressive as well, going 11-3-3. Arsenal is a -133 favorite to win this match at Bodog.
